Here is a UDK project I started just recently with a couple of my friends at college.

We have a few models done so I threw them in UDK with some quick lighting.

Crits are very welcome.

It looks like the temple got only diffuse, it looks kinda flat.

I need to start adding some green vegetation and flowers. and anything not sandy color
I also cant wait to try out some vertex painting/texture blending stuff.

Nice, the ground looks really flat for being made out of sand, in the middle of a desert, that has sand storms. Parts of the bases of the buildings should have some piles of sand in front of them. Try to make it look like the buildings are coming out of the same.

Actually the ground is like concrete but doing sand might be interesting

by the way. it looks very empty. how bout some others stuff to look at?

Ah, I thought it was sand, it'd fit the look/theme IMO.
