what's wrong with consoles? playing an action game on the PC feels weird unless you hook a controller up.
nothing wrong with them, i suppose. i just don't like them.
and i don't mind playing actions games on the PC as long as they didn't just lazily port them from the consoles so the controls would be all weird and shit.
I'm saying we havent had a lot of games about Games Workshop properties, or close knockoffs.
Call me cynical, but I think Gears of War with its ironclad men with chainsaw bayonets takes a few hints from 40k as well. And if you're not going into specifics - which (action) games don't - then it's all just guys with a kill-everything-in-sight mentality going up against Orcs, Elves and evil men with the same mentality.
While I understand that you're not likely to be looking for deep psychological questions or any literary value in an action game, that's no excuse to call Warhammer 40k clever or remarkable. (Space Marines least of all!)

For the tau there is always fire warrior but a game ever based around the eldar or imperial guard would always be great in terms of back story.
other then that this game is coming along since last i saw it on the old demo videos posted online

correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Relic Space Marine is a complete redo of the Space Marine demo (that was by another studio)
I am mostly just happy to see an action game from Relic as you guys make excellent games. I'm not really a fan of RTS though, so I've been missing out on them.
I was excited when I saw the first trailer for this, still looks great. Keep up the good work.

that ancient leaked video was a different game being made by THQ Australia, I believe.
In these days anyone can write an "article" and show us how uncultured they can be, don't get upset with fools like that one, and more if they are surnamed as "takahashi". It's very surely he don't know a lot about Warhammer .
In my opinion... how is there not a Ltd Ed Marine model in there of a main character like the Warhammer Online set had? That's a damn shame. Instead we get an elaborate fridge magnet? Seems a bit pricey for what you get - £90! Indeed. I really wanted to get a great Collectors Edition but I'm finding it hard to justify.
here is the latest trailer. there have been a couple others but they were pretty badly put together. this one shows the game pretty well. enjoy! comes out early sept

All the "gameplay" ive seen is also no UI, and the camera slowdowns, and close camera movements that are very cinematic, makes me wonder how it will actually play, and how smooth the controls will be. Everything ive seen could very easily be pre-programmed shots in the game engine. i dunno. we`ll see.
i havent watched all the videos though, nor gone through this entire thread
What's funny is that I stumbled up on this one earlier, cause I was looking to see if there's anything new about the 40k MMO. Which I guess there isn't
But Space Marine looks awesome enough. I do wonder if you could choose to go Chaos at some point.
I hope this game delivers. But everything I've seen just doesn't scream "must buy" to me. They just aren't showing me any substance, it's all hack and slash "turn off your brain" action. Which is great for a few hours, but doesn't do much in terms of lasting appeal.
ok. i just saw this video, and im feelin better about it all. lol. realtime slowdowns for big hits! coool. though, if there are lots of guys, that might get annoying after a while. either way, ill be picking this up FOR SURE
I hope the killing to regen your health is more varied and not the same animation every single time. I saw a play through where they had one animation over and over and over. Apart from that, the game looks pretty solid! i like that epic hammer.
yea there are a couple various animations for the synch kills that fill your health. the slow down thing is pretty awesome and not really intrusive for the most part, adds some extra oomph to the shoulder charge move. the combat is pretty fluid, really nice/easy blend from shooting with the triggers and melee with the face buttons.

No, not clever. But certainly remarkable!
I'd love to play a different race from the 40k universe, I hope 40K: Eldar is in the works they have such an interesting back story!

It has nothing to do with Relic's game.
I don't have one, to be precise. :P
Also this looks pretty fun, but there is one huge problem I'm seeing with it: It's not Homeworld 3 *shakes fist at THQ*
I think it's Alpa Chino
hehehe but that's cuz you may have worked on it...

This is my favorite article written ever.
It was a joke :P
you'd need to be E Honda to pull off a facepalm of relevant magnitude
haha i knew it :P
I just pre-ordered 2 copies of the game plus the augmented edition of Deus Ex Human Revolution . I'm gonna enjoy August and september of this year!
At first reading that article made me sad. Then I read the comments and I was happy again.
purge the unclean!
The Special Edition is up for pre-order in many places now, and here's a link to it's contents: http://thq.com/uk/news/show/15273.
