thats great but please, i hope the font, lensflare and background is a joke. Just render your models using a setup like a skylight, an omni and a shiny material with ao turned on etc, keep it grey or slightly blue, have just like a dark grey background, maybe leave a small amount of text in arial in the corner. so we can see what is going on, and make crits for you. also, post a wireframe.
The indentation under the case ejection port has some pretty awful artifacting going on, also the hinge on the butt-stock is not in one SG, and it shows.
Samuel L. Jackson is teaching people poor grammar! It should be "When you absolutely, positively HAVE to kill every motherfucker in the room". No wonder our kids can't speak correctly!
I was going to say *AAAHHHHGGG THE LENS FLARE!! GETM OFF ME!!*
But part of being a critic I should remmeber that it is easier to crit and hard to do. Rather than telling him its a joke, I believe this site is designed to direct him to the right direction. Dont you think?
EDIT: My further advice; Remove the lens flare and apply texture to it.
Provide SS of wireframe, and your texture sheets.

Did it occur to you when posting your model in such a gaudy manner that you're making seasoned members of the board lose any potential respect for you?
Can you consider for a moment the benefit of a subtle and well mannered entry to a board populated by industry professionals who have spent more than a decade building their camaraderie and interactive demeanor?
You see people like Johnny or EQ post a joke thread, yet you don't realize that many of us have not only worked together for years, but have friendships outside of the boards.
I'm not trying to be a forum nazi, or any other similar nonsense, but many of us view this site to gain a sense of the state of art, and to stay in touch with how the next generation of artists is doing. We want to nurture their talent, and also learn from them when they show us a new way.
This "I signed up yesterday and have posted over a 1,000 times with useless opinions in every damn thread" nonsense is unwelcome. It's unwelcome by me, and it's unwelcome by other people who would never post about it.
I like your model, it seems cleanly built, remove all the other garbage, and get with the program; we would absolutely love to have another 3d artist on this board.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found this a bit cruel.
Truth is, with a texture, I could see that in Grand-theft Auto San Andreas. Lens-flare and all.
So really, it is good. Keep up the good work and post it, possibly without post-work in photoshop.
The lens-flare jokes will die-off, don't worry, haha.
seriously, the board is full of useless/shitty threads as is, and encouraging them is not a good way to deal with this. Im all for jokes and shit, but see this board become populated by them kidna defeats the purpose of a board dedicated to art and improvement of it.

this could have easily been intended as a joke, but if he was looking for real crit and you have no real reason to give any, then don't give any input at all. but if you feel like trashing it, do it constructively in a non spamful manner.
we all have two ears that stay open and a mouth that can be closed. unfortunately, we don't use microsoft sam
Did it occur to you guys that maybe he doesn't yet understand that his presentation was not acceptable? Instead of instantly telling him to fuck off because you assume this is a joke thread.
You guys pride yourselves in your level or professionalism, yet you apparently seem to disregard that he is a new comer to what you guys love doing. I'm sure everyone here at one point made mistakes, but there were people who understood that you were learning and helped you out. I apologize to those here who attempted to give sound crits, and the people who just flamed him can fuck off.
Not everyone is amazing at art, if you only want pros here, don't make it a public forum.
I'm pretty sure this was a joke thread, since the actual model is done pretty well, and the lens flare was put in very obviously. To me it looked like a pun.

Sorry for the language, but seriously guys....
Did it occur to you that you should check his profile to verify anything you've said? The guy is an art teacher at The Game Assembly, and his few other posts have used much better English, and he even posted a low poly character with appropriate presentation. This is a joke thread, and everyone in here taking it serious is silly.

I did check it, it came up with a few weird posts, but nothing to indicate he was a teacher.

it's hard to take the model seriously with a lensflare and rainbow background dude
Could be because it really is annoying to look at when trying to find things to crit on.
Or it could be that the presentation VERY belias-esque
Slash, lol, turbo smooth on a LP?
Quote from Samuel l Jackson + lens flare.
wow......O.O
Either diminish the lens flare, or post the prosp view with wired object, not the render view.

It's rare that a line in the sand gets drawn and someone doesn't want to be the first to jump it.

Depends on how many crunches you've survived.

probably because time spent in the industry means you've seen this joke about a bajillion times?
ps where the fuck's the plastic wrap? get it right!
The lens flares aside, when's it gonna be textured?
And you could bump up the AA. A lot of star steps for the render.
And looking at it closely, that is the low poly. what does the high poly look like?
I should really make a serious avatar some day.
