ok you guys,, remember i was working on that techs mechs thing a while back. after my coder vanished over the holidays it left me to re evaluate the game and i decided that it was a much to complex thing to attempt to do with an online team and it being my first independent game project.
so i spent some time thinking and planning and am not under way on another game. a much smaller scale game called
RUN!!!
its an extreme foot race game set in the future

i like to think of it as a mix between sonic the hedge hog / marble madness / pitfall
controls for the game are a simple 3 keys
i'm working with the phenom Jouste who is doing concepts, the plan is to set it in the same universe as his slaughterball concepts (slaughterball may even be a game in the future if this all works out)
here is the first concept red runner our average runner, he is an all around middle ground runner,, not too fast not too slow. and recovers from falling at an average pace.
up next the green runner boulder,, he's slower than the other runners but sturdy as a.. well boulder. you wont break any speed records, but you will sure break fewer bones,, boulder recovers his ballance faster than any other runner, and also gets to his feet the fastest of the 3 when he takes a tumble
and finaly the third and last runner of the run family ... Rodney the blue runner. he's fast and agile but all that speed has a trade off. when rodney crashes, he crashes hard.
the plan is to do it for pc and if it has a good fan base then move on to trying to get it done for iphone, but with tilting the phone being the controls.
unity is the engine planed for this project, i have several coders who have expressed interest in the project but have not picked one out yet.
if anyone on these boards is an acomplished unity coder and want in on this totaly sweet game, give me a PM.

You're a great artist and joust style will knock this shit out of the park, but unless you put some more time and effort into your animations it's going to look like crap in motion.
Also, to rhinokey, why aren't you just making this a flash game? Or is it mainly that you want to be on the iphone?

just some messing around with one of the runner ideas. getting the "medium build" standard going with WUGS!
going for a primary colors thing with three runners. think ice hockey for the nes, there'll be a stocky tank of a runner, a medium built guy that averages across the board and a more fragile skinny guy that takes the hits a lot harder than the other two.
so here's wugs, a lot of quick ideas like a stim-pack that could deter the effects of stuns and other traps. maybe a speed boost or something. getting some expressions down too just in case an avatar type system pops up when the grudges of two warring runners comes up.

If you need any lowpoly modelers on this project shoot me a pm . (or is it going to be 2d? judging by the concept i'd think not but you never know) Or do you already have a team made up of (part) of the team of the previous gameproject?
its boulder the green runner! you can see he has a speech filter because he curses so much in his day to day running. lets keep it PG people.
so he's the heavier of the runners. super tough but slow to start, maybe a mean top speed? who knows, just here to get the ideas rollin!

the third primary runner in run! this guy is the lightest and lithest of the three runners making him fast and fragile! he has a sweet running stick (you know; instead of a walking stick?) and has some breathing slots on his suit to keep himself ventilated.
he also has a sweet scar that all members of his race self inflict to attract a mate.
Jouste: awesome work, how long did you spend on each of these?
for pc version 4-5 k is our goal at the momment, with an aditional head model at around 5k for it, that is more detailed, the head pops up on the screen to give you information or to taunt another player
lower have to check into iphone specs more closely but i figure about 700-1k
If you are open to suggestions, here's a tiny one: Drop the packs down to the waist. You don't want your shoulders bearing delayed-effect weight to distribute if you're running. Plus it aesthetically could add a mobile or sporty vibe since your silhouettes will be centered as far as mass and pivots are concerned so you get some realism that could make things look good too! But no biggie at all.
