must stop being lazy and plug in that HDD to so i can stop using MS paint, aka POS.
Wipy temp colours with massive overlap and all kinds of problems.
Small tree with part of the roots still attached for improved craziness as a TREE CANNON. iron banded trree stuck together with rivets. medievaly enough to fit with vikings.
Hope no one seriously crits the texture...but you never know...
LVG, black lines along the seams on models in realtime are general caused by mipmapping. I'm not sure how things are in TF2 though. But if this is the case, I suggest you add a few pixels of padding to your texture (basically a texture bleed). Also, I'd suggest you make the coils either silver/chrome or a light, glowing electric blue/red color
Otherwise I really like the direction that your hat is going!
Seeing as how quite a few a people are making medieval versions of Sentries and stuff, I thought it would be nice to create a wrench replacement that they can use to build them with. Because someones bound to make a hammer, I decided to put a medieval spin on the classic wrench. Problem is...they didn't exist then.
So unfortunately I'm clueless about how to make this look medievaly, whilst still looking like a wrench. This is what ive got so far...
A pipe wrench doesn't really make sense with setting in a period before plumbing existed, but you can get an idea of what one might have looked like based on other devices from the period.
Usually they've got a big screw on top like this wine press (medieval torture devices are also a handy reference for this kind of setup). Make sure the thread on your screw is pretty broad as it's obviously something that had to be made by hand. I'd probably make the major components out of wood coupled with black metal.
Hey looking good Ai. I dont mind if you take a different direction, although the only real idea I had was to add some new abilities involving the drink, so I'm not sure whether your name conveys any hints there. What does the "Stiffler" refer to? (Please God not an American Pie reference)
As for the logo, I suggest making a worm, bullet hole, stitches, a bomb fuse, or crossbones into the logo of the apple. Makes it tougher looking you know? It's so innocent right now you might think it's just apple juice...
If you can add ideas for functionality when you submit it, I hope you suggest some of my ideas since I really feel like there's a ton of potential with the Demo's drinks and the possible effects.
Hm, I'd like to see a black or very dark version of the bottle too yet. This color looks like it might not stand out from the original bottle color enough:
Also if you could make it more shiny like glass, right now (could just be the lighting) feels a bit plastic. Plastic apple juice is the natural reaction I have, but a couple tweeks could change that.

It looks like plastic because of the phong. You should have it be sharper and tighter like it is on the Demoman's bottle, unless you're going for that plastic look.
Using Norron's suggestion, I tried out some more rouned shapes rather than the beveled squares, and tried out another laser while I was at it:
It's certainly has a lot cleaner look to it this way. It's also borrowing more from a Lee Enfield now than the WA2000 and Dragunov...not that borrowing from a British rifle is a bad thing given the person holding it.
I like the idea of integrating the laser into the scope, but this doesn't seem to be the way to do it. I'm probably going to rebuild the mid-section of the scope to pull all the bits on top together.
Looking pretty good Elbagast. I really don't like that laser though. Ruins the entire scope for me. It should be something smaller definitely, maybe on the side of the scope instead of the top.
Greetings gentlemen i'm new here and i have a question/conundrum I love tf and have a passion for creating designs and ideas but i am technologically inept, i have read the source material on modding and blending etc but cannot make square one on how to do it i do not know how to script and i was never good in programing. Still i do not wish that to deter me from creating input for tf2 is it ok if i were to submit drawings, images or ideas and if some modder were interested, could contact me on modding the weapon and we could work together on it's cosmetic appearance? Even if the item were submitted and accepted by valve any profit earned from the item would go towards the modder i would be content with credit in creating the item and possibly a copy of the item for ingame use. Is that acceptable?
For example one of the major ones im pushing for is a Roman theme for the soldier hat and weapons i have ideas on designs and possible effects the weapons would have
the hat would be based on the legion helms such as
or this
with the soldiers symbol engraved on either the front or where the side flaps meet the helmet the weapons i can discuss later but i would enjoy some feedback first.

Looking pretty nice. I don't like the new laser either. The last one worked pretty well I thought but it's not a huge deal I guess.
Also, I think the scope near the back needs more edges. It's very obviously low-poly and it's right in the player's face.
@Zipfinator, Norron: Another laser on the discard pile! This is mostly just seeing if there's a good design out there that's got less in common with the regular rifle's, so far the previous one is my favourite.
Taking a look at some of the other viewmodels, yeah the scope could do with more detail. It's currently the same as it is on the regular rifle's viewmodel, but that seems to have a lot less than most of the other weapons...
@hawt koffee, I don't see how the polycount would jump, adding holes in since it appears that you've already beveled them in. I would also bevel or at least bring those edges down, off line with each other so that it doesn't appear as blocky.
Of course that's dependent on you wanting to re-uv it - texturewise, I'd add some scratching and wear along the edges to help bring the pieces out more - it generally looks like a solid hunk of metal, instead of a helmet with independent parts that can move up and down. Solid work though
@Elbagast, yeah your last laser looked much better. That scope also looks really precariously mounted with only that little bit of support - seems like it'll break right off if you drop the gun, might be something you'll want to revise.
1. For some reason I can't get my hat to use 2 textures. I figured out that it only uses the texture that I used in 3DS Max as it's material. So if I had spy_holmes_blue.vtf as the material, it would only use the blue vmt, and if it had a file that had a different name from any of the vmts, it wouldn't show any texture (it's transparent). So now I'm stumped and I don't know what to do with it. Any 3DS Max users that can help me with this?
2. I started working on my knife idea, and this is what I've got so-far:
So now I need to make the slot in the main body, add the bones to it, rig it, animate it and oh dear I have a lot of work ahead of me.

Think the label needs a bit more dirt, its like it's brand new at the moment.
Current PolyCount: 7064 Triangles (unoptimized)

Any Crits greatly appreciated.
@re.wind: I feel like those roots at the bottom don't look right model-wise, partially because they look too symmetrical.
here's my new hat for pyro
What version should I go with?
Fists of Steel were not enough
Doesn't clip as much on the Eternal Reward anims:
i swear it's such a clusterfuck these days

I play three times a week on a private server with a group of people I've been playing with for about three years. I respectfully disagree.
As long as that something else isn't in the game there's no reason he should stop. He can always make it better than the other thing
pretty much done

By chance, is it inspired by this?: http://shwigityshwonshwei.deviantart.com/art/Medieval-Fortress-Complete-192681759

and it'd be annoying to work with
not to mention having to rewrap it

For the Medieval community project, I'm making a cannon for the soldier that was flip-turned sideways (Upside down), with some handles strapped on.
Any suggestions for the model?
My first serious work.
Model ~ 750 polygons.
... It is a pity that I did not speak English ...
But Google Translator helps ... Although badly :poly142:
