I'm on the last season of Battlestar Galactica, and am looking to for some new shows to get into, anyone have any recommendations? Lost is already on my list. (already watch office/House)
The only two shows I watch are Fringe and House. Fringe is freakin AWESOME. Of course I watch Bill Dance religiously too, but no one else here probably does.... (no I'm not a hick).
Another good show is that Sci-Fi Science on Science channel...
It really depends on your tastes, but the only one I would say that's 'must omfg watch' is LOST. it's just amazing if you're the type of person who likes mystery and a crap load of OMFG WTF JUST HAPPENED moments. there's so much foreshadowing and shit to look at and decipher that it's just fun to watch..
other amazing shows though:
arrested development
seinfeld/curb your enthusiasm
john adams
the office
30 rock
oh.. I don't have any tv service so that's as far as my 'series' shows go. (I refuse to recommend Heroes after what they've done to it.. unless you're content stopping after season 1)
Friday Night Lights, Community, Psych, Better Off Ted, Chuck, Heroes (yep, I'll probably watch it till it goes off the air :-)), White Collar, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory....
House, if anything just for the character of house himself. Hugh Laurie is brilliant.
EDIT: I missed you watch house already lol so I'll also throw in 24 if you haven't seen that before. Maybe not so much the last couple of seasons but the first 5 are brilliant I think.
Just throwing it out there, kind of an old show, but Red Dwarf is pretty cosmic. It's british humor, but about as American as it gets. It's kinda like star trek, how the show explores science and adventure, but rather than being serious about it they just F around.
Fringe
Arrested Development
Deadwood
Leverage
30Rock
Farscape
Firefly
FlashForward
Weeds
Big Bang Theory
The Office
Flight of the Conchords
Jericho
Dexter
Mad Men
*True Blood
*John Adams
*Rome
*Big Love
haven't been mentioned but definitely worth a watch
The Boondocks
Bored to Death
Modern Family
Modern Family is The Office with a large family instead of a bunch of office workers, and it has Al Bundy married to Sofia Vergara
And House... the character is great, the supporting cast is so-so, Foreman is a jackass and his relationship with 13 was horribly forced and a bit weird looking back at it, but the episodes themselves are horribly formulaic. You can guarantee that House will have his eureka moment about the patients illness courtesy of something in his personal life in the last 6-7 minutes.
HA! i read the title to this thread and thought of prison break... watched every season. i personally LOVED it. ya, there were some slow parts, but really, it was like one long ass movie. real good.
I'd recommend the older episodes of Bones over the new ones, though; they've lost something in the new material.
I disagree - in my opinion, the newer episodes have gotten more a bit more sentimental, or romantic, which can be a gain depending on the viewer's tastes. Of course, you are probably right for most people here, I am just a softie.
You can't do any better than The Wire and Breaking Bad. Both are incredible pieces of work with fantastic performances and great storytelling. In fact, there are a ton of great US dramas (Deadwood, Mad Men, Generation Kill etc.) from the last few years that are all highly recommendable. Hollywood may have forgotten how to tell a story, but there is great work happening at the cutting edge of television drama. The new David Simon series Treme sounds pretty interesting and Martin Scorsese is involved with another HBO show called Boardwalk Empire. Also, season 3 of Breaking Bad and Pacific(from the people behind Band of Brothers) in March!

Also, Chuck is coming back in January. It's pretty good (though it does have some slow/boring episodes).

Honestly the best thing I've seen on TV.
Here are few others worth checking out.
Fringe
Dr Who
Dexter
The Mentalist
Legend of the Seeker - If you've read the books, it will make you vomit. Repeatedly.
House - May take a bit to grow on you, but its great.
Lie to Me - Unrealistic, but with some extremely strong characters.
Buck Rogers - They've got all (or almost all) of it on Hulu; retro flashback.
Stargate Universe - I hope you enjoy boredom.
Dollhouse - No comment.
Yup!
Right next to Deadwood.
Third , Mad Men.
I also watch the regular stuff :Dexter, house, Mentalist, Fringe, Flash Forward, Bones, SGU.
For the funny, i watch Community, Californication , Two and a half men , Big bang theory, Boston Legal.

Has anyone checked out Breaking Bad? It's awesome, the dad from Malcom in the Middle in a darker role.
