As long as he doesn't make the site look anything like wikipedia, he should be fine. I don't know why he'd use the name wikizedia though. It makes no sense and has nothing to do with the product the site will host. The 'pedia' part comes from encyclopedia, to reference 'information'. Changing that part of the name, makes it really confusing.
well he hasnt provided us enough details to determine whether the name is relevant, maybe his friend's name is wiki or zedia.
The original idea sounds like google images, but then you mention tutorials only... so what exactly is it? Now it just sounds like someones portfolio with tutorials on it.
Anyway if its only gonna have tutorials made by him then I think its safe to assume he can name it whatever he wants, its his site
Not to mention that usually "wikisomething" means, information about "something", openly editable by the user base. So, content made only by your friend ? doesn't really fit the name.
If the name of the guy was, say, Adam, then "Adampedia" would make sense : that would mean the encyclopedia of everything Adam.
"WikiAdam" would mean, a website about Adam freely editable by the users.
I should stop trying to make any sense off this hehe. Notman yeah that was exactly my thoughts but hey it's Belias after all so in way it does. I kinda wish I was there to witness the conversation between the two dudes hehe
What about asking directly on some Wikipedia forums?

Wiki's usually have information......
I think this is my favourite way I have ever seen a thread started ever. Hi and imagine. Construct your thoughts before posting dude.
If there is some doubt over using a name similar to an established trademark, why not USE SOMETHING THAT ISN'T SIMILAR? Problem solved.
