Hardware question - server memory help

Hi, not sure where to post this, hope here is ok..

anyway, is it possible to use server memory on Core I7 (940) board?

im trying to build a pc with as much memory as possible but the only 4gb dims i can find are server memory (which i dont know about)

if not, what are my other options?

If its server memory it may be ECC ( Error Control and Correction ) or registered RAM. Most consumer boards won't support ECC or registered RAM. If it isn't ECC or registered it should work as long as is the right speed. Do you have a link to it? Have you tried looking for 12GB ram kits. There are plenty of those that use 3 x 4GB sticks.
