UC 2009 'END GAME' | Tinfoil Time Machine | 3D

Looks like I'll be going it alone for this comp.

I'm not sure what I'll be working on just yet, need to give it some more thought.

Good luck to all you Polycounters out there.

    Yay! Polycount is back up!

For some reason the closest thing I could come up with that fit the "End Game" theme is flying exploding castles. I'm not sure if I'll actually go in this direction, but I figured I should post some concepts. I do like the cylindrical layout of the interior scene. The exterior shot was an attempt to show more of the same idea from a different point of view, I'm less happy with this scene than the other especially the foreground balcony/railing that element will be changed for sure.

I think I'll try to come up with a few more ideas over the next day or two before I move on.

I have decided to go in a different direction.

    Background Story:

Far off the heroes have defeated the evil Demon King which had covered land with an eternal darkness causing an unnatural and endless winter. With the demise of the Demon King light shines once again. Here at the temple of the sun summer rushes forth to revive the world.

I've built some blockout meshes for the temple and put them into Unreal. The current layout is just a test to make sure they tile ok and work well on the grid.

Next on the list are the terrain and tree blockout meshes.

Like it! But why do you use just complete "soft" meshes? Just for blocking out?
  • Ben Apuna
Yup these are just for blocking out and taking care of scale issues before the real modeling begins.

Finally got some time to work on this again. I've decided to go with a somewhat different composition. I felt my previous one was kind of sucking once I got it into Unreal.

All of this is still just placeholder meshes for now. More updates coming soon.

I've started to add in some trees. The trees are just the low poly trunks for now, I still need to add some alpha planes onto them for the smaller twigs and foliage. The placement, number, size, and variations of the trees are not final, I'm just getting a feel for what they will look like in the scene.

Heh, I've spent way too much time on the water material and wouldn't you know it, it doesn't look the same in the editor viewport as in game, lol. Terrain model is more or less finished, terrain material/textures are still a wip. It's going to need some serious decals and instanced rock mehses to break it up. Hopefully the foliage I have planned will bring this scene to life. The sky texture is just a placeholder for now. Oh well time to get some real modeling done. Comments and critiques are welcome.
