I gathered some references and made some very quick thumbnails of the rough concept. Ill make a final illustration if i have the time.
The scene will take place on a tower constructed on the very top of a mountain. We wont be able to see the rest of the mountain only the very highest part, the tower and other mountain tops, the clouds will hide the rest.I still need to decide if it's night or day and the weather. The style of the architecture will be roman/greek mythology influenced.
I have my first assets. I made the brick in Zbrush then trasferred the normal on a simple cube. I made the second asset very simple with size equal of six cubes and assined its UV's on top of the single cube UV map so i can use the same map for both. This 2 modular forms give me the possibility to create walls with not so much repetitiveness by using rotation.
OK, so I am back .Just finished a tilling mesh with normal and ambient. I'll finish all my meshes this week so my realistic objective is to start polypainting monday. I'll post tomorow. c ya
i continue with the modular assets. I bended the wall pieces to have a piece for the corners and I finished the small wall. I'll try to finish all the models for the end of the week and start texturing monday.
thks for the advice I was thinking exactly the same thing. at the beginning it was something that inspired me but at the end i just had the same thing with puttung all my concentration ot the technical side of the work. Il post more assets tonight. thks
I made some assets , ill put them in UDK tomorrow, here i just made a quick test of lightmass with a random color on the diffuse of the bricks. Ill make my palette tomorrow and start texturing + quick mattepainting of the sky . The next couple of days the scene will evolve very much as i'll finalise all the meshes and start the light saturday morning .
the colors were just to test my occlusion map on the bricks, nothing more.
here some more pics. The scene is going to evolve very very much the next couple of hours all assets are done with all high poly normal maps ill import the rest tonight and then ill make my color palette. It will be dark bluish ( moonlight ). Sunday is day for footy and renders in UDK and post-processing
ps. Just wanted to ask for an advice for how to make the render. From a camera or just a printscreen from the viewport (what is best). And how to turn on AA. thks, c ya in couple of hours
Thank you d1ver.
You are right, beating myself was the most important thing. And also I happend to learn many thing while doing so. I really like your entry especialy the second shot, it somehow feels like a real movie scene.
Now Ill play Dragon Age.
