Not much of an 'art' piece, but I updated my site. Anticipating an art dump in a few months with new material, wanted to get the bigger update out of the way / work any kinks out:
I guess you use Zbrush, so do you mind telling me what brushes do you use to make neat surfaces and the surfaces joints as in the armor, for example, in the armor or the arm?
Miyavi: Honestly, that's an older piece and my technique has probably changes since then - but - it's nothing more than standard and trim dynamic. I'll build up the surface using clay, use trim to make a harder edge and standard to make the seams and stuff.
Very cool vid. Always fun to see great artists in action. Were some of those base meshes modeled and imported in from other software? Or do you tend to just start everything from scratch in ZB?
Yup, all base meshes were built up in Max. For some parts, i just have it in a library...like my hands or a head base mesh. Build it once, improve it over time.
Happy 2014 Polycount! Trying to start it off right with a few new projects to show (albeit from 2013...)
A character created using the beat features in Marmoset Toolbag2. Created with a physically based rendering method in mind for the final image.
A fan art piece of Atoq from the Uncharted series. I wanted to try and boost my sculpting skills and hit a level of detail similar to what was seen in the Last of Us sculpts by Michael Knowland and crew:
