What inspires you and makes you :)

Hey guys, I was just thinking about what inspires myself and how some of the stuff I see and practice really gets me so excited. Do you guys love that feeling when you've just figured out something new and you always dreamed of doing it?

I just placed my very own asset into an unreal ed map with lighting and all and flung it around a huge room with the physics gun option!!
I can shoot it and see decal imprinted into it! That may not seem all that great to experienced industry proffesionals like most of you who have seen their stuff in an actual game but to me its been my dream to do that since I was 11. It only took me 4 and a half years ;P And it has inspired me to put something I make with a purpose, into unreal ed.

So, what inspires you guys?

im inspired by CAIPIRINHA YES AHAHA . you dont know what caipirinha is ? DHAME !

I can't say for myself I have anything that particularly inspires me really. Ever since I was born I just naturally just marked, touched things with the idea that I could make something or have an impact.

You can take all the art and media away from me in this world and I will still create something because it's in my nature.

Congrats on getting your first asset into Unreal :) I can relate to that feeling, though it was Unreal 2003 for me. Once I made my first BSP level I knew that real time 3d is what I wanted to do for a living, the rest is history.
  • Taylor Hood
    Heh, thanks Ben! :)
Except for me I already had been modelling since I was 12!
I just never...ever had an engine or worked with any team that was good enough to even get past planning.
So i've been a self taught 3d artist since 12.
  • Ben Apuna
Yeah finding a good team to work with is always a challenge. I wish I had been working on my art skills since 12. It was around 12 that I gave up on art for a while, at that time I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. It wasn't until I was 22 that I decided to give art another try.

You know, it ain't even that impressive. Sure, when compared to most people here they probably didn't even know anything about 3d modelling at 12, or probably didn't even have a pc. But we live in different times now with easily accessible internet, digital photography and amazing 3d/2d software. Its so easy to learn things by yourself now.

Anyway, in response to the topic... I'm not sure many things inspire me, at least not in the sense that most people would use that word.

    Success motivates me.
Whether I see someone very talented at their craft and aspire to be as good as them, or whether I personally achieve goals that I set, or whether I just win in games, any kind of success motivates me.
Actually come to think of it, there is something more important than success; that is failure.
Failure motivates me more into succeeding :) I love improving on anything and everything, and the best way I improve is by failing. Failing repeatedly is stressful though, but when you succeed after all those failures, it feels better than if you just succeeded on the first attempt :)
  • Taylor Hood
Hey, sorry but, did I start bragging saying it was impressive? : ) No, I didn't.

Uhu I get ya, sucsess is definitley a big part in motivation and inspiritation.

I draw inspiration from what I see, hear, and read. Sometimes other artists, but not as much as other things.

With creative comma placement, this sentence could be truly amazing.

I find all sorts of things inspiring. They can be as abstract as weird color combinations in nature or as simple and obvious as a pair of stonking great tits.

I recently had a conversation with a couple of teenage girls about things they should never, ever do to, around, or with men and the whole thing made me want to go write something sarcastic and cynical.

I saw a person walking along, wearing huge glasses that made me instantly want to draw a caricature.

One time I ate a nectarine that was so good it made me want to sing and dance.

Honestly, if something is in any way a unique or interesting experience for me, I'm probably going to get some sort of inspiration out of it, even if it's just as simple as seeing some contrasting colors or a person with weird glasses.

Yeah man we get it you are young, try making a post without mentioning it, that'd be far more impressive.

What motivates and inspires me is to make some stonkin artwork that impresses other people.

anything can be inspiring... I can inspire myself, I can be inspired by others.

Achieving goals that you set for yourself is always a way to inspire yourself... no matter how small or big the goal, as long as it's achievable for you.

Seeing otherwise normal people do shit that I can do, but do it for shits and giggles. I can't sing for shit, but when I hear or see someone who wasn't trained to do it professionally or someone that just does it for a hobby (and does it spectacularly) I am impressed. Insert any action (or what leymans call talent) here.

Am I inspired by looking at artwork? possibly, I think it's more of a 'shit if I spent a lot of time, I could probably do the same thing' type envy. It's a matter of your priorities and your goals... again... set achievable goals and you'll be a steamroller of inspiration.

Actually does not need the creative comma placement, as it stands now it reads as he is inspired by his friends in addition to having sex with beer, or, with the comma, by having sex with beer AND having sex with his friends. The sentence is full of win either way.

I inspire myself, I am my own role model....

ha, seriously, other peoples artwork mostly. I also have good self motivation, with most anything I do, but sometimes that doesn't always work.

I have an artwork folder with thousands of different pieces I've collected over the years that I look at. When I say artwork I mean artwork.. not porn like someone would prob. say... :P

a lot of different stuff inspires, but in general games, movies and books. Some Anime like Naruto and Bleach. Go outside and take pictures. Improving my art. My student game I had made with teammates this and last year, was awesome to get thrown into cold unknown water and make a game we can be proud of :) makes me sad that it ends :(. Alcohol, coffee and POLYCOUNT :D

Traveling to new places is also a great muse. I love wandering through new cities, staring up at the architecture and really noticing things with fresh eyes. That I can still do that in certain parts of London is also very cool. The tiny, winding alleyways and side streets in Covent Garden still fascinate me, and I've lived here for years.

That's the TF: RotF version of Devastator, yep. Unlike the originals, he's not really a gestalt: He's not multiple robots that combine, he's one HUMONGOID robot whose alt mode is several construction vehicles.
