Hello there, firstly I want to say you've done a goodjob with the highpoly. The design looks very interesting, however some of the detail feels a bit random, and one thing that bugs me really bad is how would a person hold this shotgun. It seems very heavy and everytime someone were to shoot with it, it feels as if it would fall out of their hands because it seems hard to hold it firm during the recoil according to how the grip is shaped and seeing the shotgun seems to be heavy. But thats just my opinion
Thanks for the kind words. Which details to you think I should get rid of? I have removed the plate on the right side of the gun. I agree with you on the grip, I have fixed it up a bit to look more functional. Im doing the lowpoly now but having trouble with some smothing errors. Will post pics on monday.
It's hard to give crit on changes unless you post an update picture
Regarding the detail a suggestion would be to look at real shotguns, and see what kind of detail they have an try and understand why that detail is there. Then see if you could apply that to your model. You could as well take inspiration from other sci-fi stuff and just add it to your shotgun if it makes some sense. It's okay to have random detail, if it looks cool and isn't to random :P However try to make it look like it has a purpose.
but your turned the shape downward. This would make the gun really awkward to hold and fire -- you'd ahve to turn your wrist weirdly to hold it since you wouldnt be able to support the stock on your shoulder. See, the p90 grip above turns into a stock that extends back and has a flat end to fit your shoulder, similar to a rifle stock.
or abandon the stock altogether and have a free floating grip. As is you've created a weird half stock that hedges the p90's shape but lack's the function -- its inbetween the two and just gets in the way.
I will definitely model a stock to see how it looks. I made one when i started but I thought i looked wierd with the rest of the form, but i will make another try.
When I made the grip I looked at the SL8 but ill see if i can make it look more comfortable.
If this makes sense, in the anatomy of guns, the sl8 you linked is like the third image i posted (fn shotgun with pistol grip and rifle stock) with the pistol grip and the stock welded together. grip comes down at 45 degree, stock goes out at 90 degree and then forms a right angle down. This is the important part -- you can hold the pistol grip and still seat the stock in your shoulder without any of the parts getting in the way.
P90 is a standard rifle stock with a cool ergonomic shape -- goes back at a slightly descending angle, forms a right angle at the end to seat in your shoulder.
Your model is a pistol grip -- down at a 45 degree angle -- like the second image i linked -- except it's got this vestigal bit coming out behind it that serves no purpose other than to block your wrist and make it really hard to hold. There's no rifle stock shape to fit in your shoulder (as on the sl8 ) so it should either be open to give free access to the grip or reshaped so it fits the shoulder like the sl8/p90/fn shotgun i linked

I was a little bored today and i was thinking about your project, so i got busy with photoshop. lol
I think if your looking to make the grip 'more comfortable' all you would need to do is move the thumb hole else where. Having it up high like it is now is going to put your hand in a weird position.
here all i did was move the thumb hole down and rotated a bit. this puts the thumb and trigger finger in a more natural position - much like the p90 picture posted by SupRore.
As for the stock, your gun has an interesting shape to it at the back which might make for a 'cool' stock.
here i was thinking maybe a spring loaded hinge of sorts would be a cool way to add in a stock. that way the shooter has the option of using it or not.
I like this, espeically the detailing at the front. but one thing bothers me- it looks like a cut n' shut- two different guns welded together in the middle. This may not be a big issue for anyone but me, but I'd be looking for forms and detialing from the front end (superior design work) to carry through to the rear to give more unity. And fix the stock design as everyone is suggesting- it looks damn cool but sadly uncomfrotable (and we want to kill things in comfort dammit!)
Thats a good idea. Im thinking mabey ill have the side being able to expand backwords like the stock on the mac11 (leaving the bottom to be stuck at the handle):

Overall good work man! Keep going

of course design it to suit your gun.
Or make it a double barrel shotgun, seems to fit the current look more appropriately.
You did that cool p90 pistol grip thing http://world.guns.ru/smg/fn_p90_1.jpg

If you want that downward pistol grip shape as in
http://freedomarizona.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/shotgun.jpg
either put a stock out over it --

hope this helps/creates some ideas

And I WILL fix the stock as soon as i have time
