A movie. I know right. With that type of gritty action and shit it would be amazing. This combined with all the other ones that were done for Halo 3. My god. Please microsoft make a movie so that I can see it. And make it for IMAX! Yes please.
I honestly cannot see how with clips like that there aren't serious plans for a movie. If done in that style, it would make a ridiculous amount of money. Awesome video.
Halo's marketing has become in many ways a high mark of pure awesome. That being said, I've had my preorder in for ODST for some time now, and I can't wait. I'm not a foaming-at-the-mouth fan of the Halo series, but it's definitely one of those sets of games I consider required to have in my game collection.
That was really cool, except the gorilla in armour wtf.
One thing that bothers me about this commercial and the ones for halo 3... is that they are super gritty done in a realistic war film style, but that not at all what the games are like. I find this to be a bit deceptive, considering the halo universe is known for its bright colours and wacky alien design.
the lyrics are said to be, I have no idea about the music itself.
found this on the interwebs:
The Song sung in Gaelic: "And my army of brothers went over the hilltops, drenched in blood we may be... but fighting is all left to me... Together with my army of brothers... down we fall... darkness in all... through hell!"
If the language is gaelic, the music might be too, there's definately some bagpipes in there so it would fit the scottish/gaelic theme.
there are bagpipes everywhere :P if it is indeed gaelic its certainly not because of them
dont get me wrong I'm just curious about the origin of the music aswell as the language used, and why they decided to use such ones on the promo instead of some epic modern stuff and english like the other promos.

Am I the only one 'meh' over it? It was done well and thats awesome, but its not any sort of story I haven't seen before. It's like the trailer got me 50% of the way.
I'm pretty sure I rolled my eyes when he flinched at the guns firing during the burial at the beginning.

it was very cliche yes.
also, has a trailer "worked" when more people wnat to see the movie rather than playing the game?

It's the oh-so-typical mournful bagpipe music bit that got me. If you take the Starship Troopers movie and dress it up with some Battlestar Galactica TV style, you get this trailer. Neither is bad, but there wasn't anything here I haven't already seen many times over.
Also, the 'tactic' of dropping soldiers from orbit right into the middle of a pitched battle is retarded.

Shock troops. The idea is to get them past the frontline and clear out vulnerable or critical targets from behind. Often to clear a landing zone for dropships in the middle of hostile territory. One-man pods aren't particularly vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire and are very hard to detect when dropped from orbit.
But you're right, they'd never drop into the middle of an ongoing battle.

gaelic music? you sure? it sounds very eastern european, I wouldnt be surprised if it was hungarian aswell. just a curiosity though.

The music is definitely nothing hungarian. Our folk music is very different... this is something you might have heard, from The English Patient, by M
yep there ends my quote

Yeah, but it looks freaking sweet.
