sounds like it's gonna be something new and interesting AND aesthetically sound....i'd just like to say to all the peeps here(MoP and others)....good job. i'm looking really forward to seeing what this is all about.
I'm still not sure if I have a solid idea what the gameplay will be like until I see some footage, but this game has a really exciting style. I've only had that thought about a handful of games, so I'm looking forward to seeing more - in high res, preferably.
I must have missed this at quakecon (which in retrospect was a huge mistake), this looks like some of the best create-a-character artwork out there. I'm so tired of tacked on hair that looks like a wig or clothing/armor that doesn't fight right. I hope the rest of the customization options and character types are as good as what they showed in the video, if more games can do it like that I'd be a happy camper.
Cant wait to play with this when it comes out, though I'm not sure if I'd even get past the creator and into the game...(in a good way that is)
I find this amusing....I spoke to Richard Jolly (Splash Art Director) on Thursday night who said they were gonna do whatever they can to stop 'leaks' of the video.....Epic fail!! .
Oh that was the worst video ever Renaud, lol, but thanks for posting since it seems the closest I'll get to actually seeing what they showed in action.
i completely respect the "please don't film, we dont want this to show up on the internet" comment during the speach/disclaimer - but quakecon is a public venue, right? Showing it to the public at quakecon is public enough to be on the internet imo :P Hell, wasn't the same keynote streamed? Or did they cut the feed after Carmack talked?
that is, unless this was a private area, where only select people were allowed to view it. Then absolutely, keep that shit locked down!
short story: i missed the youtube videos, renauld's linked video sucks (sorry ren, i'll still love you regardless lol), and i want to see it
I thoroughly enjoyed that video, actually. You can hear some awesome sound design, make out some good particle effects and see a lot of messy geometry. The firefights are going to be as awesome as BLACK.
Most exciting, you get a feel for the kinetic movement they've been talking about. I haven't gotten that amped about a sprint since I played 'The Club'
I got to check out the live demo at Quakecon and it was amazing. I'm really impressed. Before the show, I was only a bit interested, now I'm a total fanboy. I love all the stuff they are doing with merging singleplaer/multiplayer and still maintaining a solid narrative (which is impressive on its own, coming from a previously multiplayer-only house.)
I am becoming increasingly interested in this game, some of the philosophy behind the design, movement, team play seems to be going in the same direction as I've wanted to see for ages.
I have to disagree with MALicivs though about the lighting looking bland. The game has fantastic lighting, all of the screenshots have great depth with actual variations in colour and value, compare it to a COD4/5 screenshot or MGS4 or GTAIV and it makes those games look flat.
Looking at the texture work in the screens its evident that these guys realise the benefit of not overloading your textures with detail and noise, keeping the detail to specific areas and using lighter colours really helps show off the indirect lighting.

Seems like this game really brings something fresh, artistically and gameplay wise, to the FPS genre.
Goodjob!

Our concept artist (Tully) designed the costumes that the female attendants were wearing ;o

See if you can spot the facepainted Resistance guy on the door, the bouncers dressed as Ark Security, and the female Founder just in shot!
