Awesome movie. Loved it all. My fav of the summer so far and for a long time. Just loved the designs. That mech drooled awesomeness and the guns. OMG the guns.
Yeah, I saw it at midnight when it came out. Everything was amazing. The story was great and drew me in, the weapons and action made me jump out of my seat and yell "Yeah!" Everything about it was just great. And they wrapped it up very well, I didn't think they'd end it in a way I'd be happy with, but they did it! Greatest movvie this year, at least. See it if you haven't.
why was wickers replacement on trial for exposing the genetic testing?
What do you mean...
He broke numerous laws and depending on the whistle blower laws of this near future fictional world it's entirely plausible he would be on trial for exposing secrets of a major corporation. Especially if it was an ongoing investigation or if the footage was taken shortly after the event before all the facts were verified. Obviously the corporation would fight to keep things secret and part of that would be to prosecute the whistle blower.
I don't think all of the footage was displayed in a linear order so that gives them quite a bit of leeway to to juxtapose imagery that your might not normally see together in a linear film.
The effects are outstanding. They nail every lighting condition, and seamlessly integrate the aliens into each of the scenes. Most movies I find myself looking around and analyzing how scenes were filmed, but with this, it had such believability I was totally drawn in and it was pure enjoyment.
Dunno why i'm posting in this thread. If you haven't seen it yet, wtf are you doing reading this thread, GO SEE IT! And if you have already seen it, you already know...
I cannot wait for a sequel. The possibilities for an amazing trilogy are endless. They've really created an amazing universe and i cannot wait for more.
Great great flick. I hated that main character soooooo much. I kept hoping someone would finnaly kill him, but the way it ended made it all the more sweet. I actually felt my body temp rise when they were aborting all the lil eggs and burning them.

Hope they come back and get revenge in 3 years!
The point isn't that he was a bad guy, he was just some goofy guy doing his job, no one respected the aliens. Then when he started becoming one he started to understand them and that's why he saved Chris, especially after Chris forgave him
Fookin awesome nerd-gasm of mecha geek joy !
Gawd that was so much fun.
Bit o trivia: the assault rifles the MNU mercs were using were repurposed Halo Battle Rifles from the live action shorts that Blomkamp directed. The Halo sniper rifle is in there too somewhere.

I thought it was great. heard other people saying it was really good as they were leaving the theater. One old lady said it was the stupidest movie she had ever seen and should have seen G-Force instead. !!:D!!:D!!
@ Asherr I think it's hard for some people to look at a movie like this and see a fairly realistic depiction of human beings how they would react to another species and how they treat others. LOL I really like that the aliens had character development done for them, you could feel they were real people. The trailer was misleading, I was expecting something else, it was a nice surprise.
The white guns rite? Or were they the one that they didn't pick up in the store room?
I'm glad I'll be seeing it again, so many details to try and look for.
After seeing D9, i really want to see an enders game movie done by him.
didn't get a chance to see it yet, seeing it tonight though. Also I kind of wish there was a game to go along with the movie; multilayer, prawns vs. humans. i'd play that so hard. too bad most movie games end up sub par

great movie, best i've seen allll year. But.. i really hope they don't make a sequel. this is a movie that should be left alone and allow the viewers to imagine what happens afterwards. I'd be afraid hollywood would gets its teeth into this and make it into an independence day type movie. Most def a day 1 dvd buy for me.
Saw it over the weekend and loved it. Definitely a first day pick up when out on blu ray.
The nod to Half Life 2 with the anti grav gun shooting the pig was awesome.
For those in love with the guns you could have owned one. They had the above gun up on eBay and it ended up going for about 1500.00 back on August 11th when the auction ended.
Great movie, but what was with the gratuitous use of foreign expletives, Batman? Definitely not a disc I'm going to buy when it comes out. How is that supposed to be good movie making?
just got back. holy shit that was the best movie I've seen in a long time. upon leaving though i heard "wow that was awful" and "i wish i didn't waste 10 dollars on that crap"
Amazing film. Love the Halo guns and Half-Life similarities. Great blend of sci-fi and real world conflict. Can't wait to see new stuff from neill blomkamp.
@BlackulaDZ
I've had a few friends thinking it was pretty crappy, saying it was only for 'nerds' and 'geeks' because of aliens and the sci fi 'crap'.

True a sequel would be a probable buzzkill, but this was the first movie I've seen in a looong time where I actually didnt really want it to end.
"Three Years Later"...I need to know what happens next, damnit !
One thing I noticed in the trailer, is they are interviewing an alien. He says, I just want to go home...Maybe I missed it because of the fucking mouth gabbers behind me, but I never saw that part in the movie?

I easily see the social commentary in the film.
Loved it.
Going to see it again.
Finally a sci-fi that didnt dissapoint!
I didn't understand why..
What do you mean...

thought it was amazing. the ending was a little abrupt and albeit a little forced, but all in all a fantastic film.
Even more awesome, having grown up in south africa, they were throwing in a lot of references I wouldn't have known otherwise.

That's cool! I thought it was interesting that Neill Blomkamp based the movie in Johannesburg, where he himself was born.
Hope they come back and get revenge in 3 years!

I stayed about 10 seconds after the "Released by Tri-Star" logo and was watching a black screen. You didn't miss anything.
Great movie.

yeah that stuff was looking familiar. lol
G force looks funny too.
just as good as the first time!
This time i was able to catch some things i missed the first time.
I like how Christopher, his son, and the main guy were the only green skinned aliens and intelligent.
The white guns rite? Or were they the one that they didn't pick up in the store room?

Holy nerdgasms, Batman. That'd be incredible.

Excellent film.
and i reallly loved the resemblance to our gaming culture i.e prawns/sligs, mecha/hl2's dog
and the obvious gordon freeman connotations...
still bloody loved it.
anyone have any good ref on the mecha?
YES
YES
@BlackulaDZ

sigh
Foreign? There weren't any foreign expletives. it was set and filmed in South Africa, why would you use american expletives?

Phenomenal movie!! Great from beginning to end!
