Does it really have those pop ups in game? The "level up!!!" and points and junk. Not sure I follow the whole "omg you've never heard of an fps rpg before" thing...I mean system shock 1 came out in 1994...
Still wish the characters didn't look like Guitar Hero
I've gotta say, I am SO happy to see companies utilizing 'recording industry' music rather than in-house created "gems" to promote their game. I think it fits the theatrical style trailers a lot more AND can easily include more people who're recognizing the music.
i like a lot of the things i saw (except for the wimpy looking broads, but that's just me)
Haha. One of those wimpy looking "broads" is actually a wimpy looking dude, jouste. I would have thought that the goatee would have clued you in
how massive did the art style shift effect you guys?> or am i even thinking about the same game.
Yep, that was us. For me the style shift was a little intimidating at first, having only done "photo-realistic" for the past several years but once I got the hang of "inking" up the textures it was a total blast. The style even evolved as we went along to what it is now. We have a former comic book artist on the team so he really raised the bar for the rest of us; I (jokingly) told him to take it down a notch to stop making the other artists on the team look bad.

I certainly hope so.
You won't be disappointed, bounchfx. You do "ding" when you level up and there are damage indicators when you are attacking enemies. I personally found the numbers popping out of the enemies a bit off-putting at first but it's actually a pretty handy gauge of how much damage your are doing and it's really not all that distracting. You also get "Critical!" in red letters when you score a head shot or hit one of the beasties in their weak point. It is also an actual damage indicator, there is no behind the scenes dice roll involved. Shooting stuff with guns in our game is just as much a measure of your skill as any traditional FPS.
Looks pretty cool, but I gotta ask: What is with the waist on the big guy?
You'd have to ask the concept artist that one, Doc. I guess it's just the "style" he was going for. Now that you mention it it does kind of look as if he's wearing a corset under his t-shirt.
Thanks, as usual, for the kind words all. We are all really having a lot of fun play-testing the game right now between squashing bugs and I can't wait for October 20th when the rest of you get to play it. Apparently even our QA dept. who are forced to play the game day in and day out still enjoy playing it and plan to continue to play it even after it comes out
yea the trailer does have a bit of "lock' stock' and two smoking barrels" flavor to it. I love seeing styles like this in motion, can't get enough of it.

I hope more games out there start to experiment with different styles.
Good work guys & gals.
I certainly hope so.

The idea of an RPG shooter without the Fallout 3 aim statting bs does sound interesting, though.
