Some texturing. My poor computer doesnt like the large psd-file :-( Have to work with several files instead, haha ^^ Mkes working a bit slower, but yeah...
damn dude- your just belting those guys out at this point. that fabric turned out REALLY nice.
I imagine you haven't gotten to it yet, but an alpha`d frayed edge on that shoulder fabric would be ace.
Also it might add some flavor and color contrast if you added some sort of pattern, or maybe a flag colors to the shoulder poncho thing. or better yet , some sort of kids towel :P Like this
Love it, I think the rivets look great. It brings a bit of medieval style clothing but who knows, this sandman could've been anywhere and picked up clothes from anyone. Great stuff man keep it coming!
Mtg_kirin, kaburan: yeah, that was my concern aswell, that it would be too warm etc, but hey, the desert is cold at night atleast Maybe he mostly hunts and moves at night ^^
Not optimised mesh! Keep that in mind ^^ Gonna shave off some more polys and fix some stuffs, but here ya go A bit under 14 k atm.
beartraps: I've been thinking of doing like a timelapse of texturing/modelling some day, when I get around to it, don't feel that I have that much to teach yet, haha
woogity: haha, yesm it is inspired by a hairdryer, yes ^^
Nice work Snefer, there's just one thing I noticed with the front 3/4 views, his arm looks stumpy because of the rolled up sleeve even though it is the right length. The rolled sleeve part just doesn't read very well imo.
Looking fantastic dude! The eye was kinda creepy at first but the more I look at it the more I like it haha. The texture your adding to the cape is cool, but it is way to noisy right now. As always, keep up the great work. I want to see this guy with all his bad ass guns soon .

jocose: thanks :] Right now I think I'm about 60% done with the diffuse, then I have to do the spec ofcourse, and add details to the normalmap, etc. So its a bit of work left, yeah.
ZacD: yeah, it's a tiling detail-noisy-texture, I just made one to try out, will make a better, more fabric-like soon
BradMyers82: thanks man :]
nrek: Thanks. yup, it indeed is. BUT ITS SO DETAILED =D hehe, will try to find a more fitting detail normalmap soon.
huege image! Anyway, some tweaks and updates in texture, now with guns :P Got a few things to sort out, like the bag, and the knife, and some minor stuff here and there (and the face) and then the diffuse is finished atleast :P
the only thing that bugs me a little are the folds of the cloth pending onto his arm, i think the ripples on the top of cloth look ok but the lower ones dont make much sense to me since the material looks very heavy and padded. Maybe this is a style choice but I think would looks better without too many folds.
hey good job! This is modeled really well and beautifully detailed, really reminds me of some of the rage characters we did.
A couple of things i noticed that i guess you can't really do much about at this point, maybe for the next guy you could try to push the silhouette even more and give things a little more weight. His limbs look a bit tubular and then the stuff around his mid section just looks like its fitted and placed there, as opposed to hanging there, like he's carrying the stuff.
Some things you can probably fix now, I think the texturing is done really well, but there's a few things to consider. First of all you got the cape, it should technically be a place for the eye to rest while you're looking at the character, since everything else is so detailed. But its covered in noise. I would definitely turn that down, or at least localize it so its not just even throughout the surface of the cloak, i dunno maybe it gets grungier/noisier towards the edges or whatever. Another thing, and this may or may not work is adding some actual sand on the guy he's walking around in the desert, he should have sand coming out of his ears, so maybe try adding some subtle sand in the crevices. I think that could really unify things because right now every piece is beautifully outlined and really pops, and thats cool, but it takes away from the character reading as a whole.
here is the problem with Scandinavia. if you are from Sweden, Finland, or Norway, you are guranteed to be very very good at doing at least one thing. that is a fact.
so there you are, in malmo, making this awesome character model.
here i am, listening to music from your country, masturbating looking at pictures of your country's women, and crying myself to sleep because i'm not a viking like you.

Well, A sword may look out of place but It doesn't mean he didn't have one that was just laying around that he snatched up with him.
But!
The knife looks great. Just my two cents
NECROPOST!! Was looking thorugh my computer and I found this guy, so I threw him into UDK and put him in my scifislum He lost his eye somewhere in some folder on my computer or something And i cant find the original textures either, but hheey
Soooo youuu should totally finish that level up and rig this dude up and put some random AI pathing on him so it'll take the awesome to the next level. Then release it so we can run around and poop happy rainbows as we look around.
Get the other desert character you have in there too. Then if you keep working at the rate you are now, you'll have a full on Rage-esque game by this time next year!

what are the things in the back of his boots? (sorry if u explained already)
sounds like the rivets were a good idea then :]
any chance u could post a preview of your texture sheets?
can we see low wires?
is the piece at the end of his ventilator modeled after a hair dryer? if so haha very creative

...wut? ^^
But srsly this is looking better and better. I'm super excited to see what you consider "final" for this.
Snefer: This is looking even better than your last desert character! Amazing Work!
Blanket.

love how you have time to do this crazy guy and a great gears of war gun just on the side, all nonchalantly
Looks great, no crits for me

I made a small paintover if you dont mind http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l175/wizo5454/Untitled-1-2.jpg
(if you like this you could just dimish the normals in this area to give this effect)
This is a nit pick really, because I really love the character.

Until then I will get my horns resharpened...
You know his real name is Thor right? ^^
