The truth is music has never changed and music fans have never changed. There's always been lots of crap, there's always been crappy pop stuff, there's always been good pop stuff that people call crap just because too many other people like it. You people really are old nostalgic farts. You can go to any decade you want and find shitty music. You can go to any decade you want and find good popular music.
The real problem is that 90% of people just don't understand Sturgeon's Law.

honestly,i really do love the metal/hardcore/metal...core... genres; but I can't stand Attack Attack. i'm sick of the whole autotune thing. i dont care if it's in rap or crabcore or whatever, it needs to stop. Also one of my friends almost convinced me to see brokencyde live a few months ago. i decided to keep those 12 dollars instead.
I actually have some friends that LOVE that stuff. They know that I really like music and when we have a pokernight it's decent music or I'm out. For godsake they had a kanye west CD...

I actually pity people that get very personal about music than those that like shit that we dont like. So what if your friends listen to shitty music i mean, theres music for everyone and even if today's music isnt up to your standards , live with it.
I'm really big into music, and have been involved with the metal/death metal/hardcore scene since middle school, and its bands like these that disgrace the entire scene. embarrassing really. i have to admit that these videos are almost comical, but at the same time it actually makes me angry, haha.
i would just like to put a disclaimer on these types of videos for everyone in the forum.

bands like this get absolutely no respect from true metal bands. these bands exist only to sell albums to 12 year old girls and give hair stylists something new to work on. although i dont condone it, but i've seen people like that get beat up at shows before, thats how bad it has gotten.
so in conclusion, don't judge the heavy music scene based on these videos. haha

um, really kinda depends what kind of metal you are talking about. there's shit like Maiden which everyone knows, then there's shit like necrophagist and Nile which are just as metal, just in a different form. both forms awesome.
On the flipside, most "true metal" is a bunch of very angry, sweaty men shouting about HOW ANGRY THEY ARE without even a shred of irony, or trying desperately to sound like some sort of blend of opera and dropping a guitar down some stairs.
It's music. On the one hand, it's one of the most important things in the world. On the other hand, it really doesn't matter at all.
That said, Brokencyde are awful in that "hey, listen to this, I think it'll make you vomit your own rectum through your eyes in pain" kind of way.
you have a point that there are some metal bands that try their hardest to just sound angry. but to be honest, most of the bands i listen to have some of the most socially conscious lyrics out there, and many of them are even very religious. the thing is people just hear the music and automatically assume its angry and violent, when they don't know the message the band is trying to convey, which a lot of the time can be very positive

not every band is talking about HOW ANGRY THEY ARE, in fact, most of the ones that do are fucking horrid.

And Converge, although I love them, probably aren't the best example, seeing as they're incomprehensible to listen to and have to be read to understand. Opeth are one of those bands that I don't think I'll ever understand. Saw them live once and just didn't get it. Good musicians though, and the frontman was funny, had a real sense of humour.
Generally speaking, though, the bands and fans that go on about "false metal" really should lighten up. That's really who I'm referring to when I talk about the "true metal" guys.

In this digital age there should be a musical renaisance going on. Bands that play together remotely from all over the world using digital instruments that sound unlike anything we've heard before. 13 year old mozarts who use their computer to synthesize a futuristic symphony.

Don't get me wrong. I love metal. Thats the only thing I listen to. But I god damn hate emo fags with hair like that. They promote the emo style with a mix of screamo and produce songs in that nature? I'm so confused. Are they trying to be cool or some shit?
there is cool-creative stuff coming out from the internet age but it bypasses the whole MTV/radio/recording studio method and goes straight to the fans.
