I just heard the news and I'm in total shock! I'm not sure about some of the younger guys here but Michael Jackson was the next best thing to God growing up as a kid in the 80's.
He was a living legend who was ahead of his time and I'm going to remember him for his "talent" and just that.
Now I think I'm going to play my Off the wall and Thriller albums now. Sigh...
RIP Mike. This is really disappointing news. Somehow, though, I find myself less down than when Steve Irwin died. I guess because I was born in the tail end of the 80's and never really experienced the whole MJ phenomenon. Strange way to die for someone with no publicly reported heart issues.
I was a huge Michael Jackson fan when I was younger. I remember studying his dance moves and spending hours trying to learn how to moonwalk. When he absolutely lost his mind, that's about the time I moved on.
They all gotta go some time, at least he wasn't found dead in a hotel room closet, naked with a belt fastened around his neck.
Wish I could say I was surprised by some of the comments on here..
One of the first things that got me into music when I was a kid was the Moonwalker vhs. As I got older I realized just how amazing his music really was, regardless of what you may think of the man. Dirty Dianna is still one of favorite songs of all time. I have absolutely no problem or shame saying I am a fan of his music.
I still think that a life where you can't do anything, go anywhere, say anything without it being watched, probed, and analyzed by the media led him into a sort of psychosis where he never matured and knew what was and wasn't socially acceptable. There's no way you can grow up to be a well adjusted adult with that kind of life, one you can't get away from. Not an excuse if the stories were in fact true, but it is something to keep in mind.
It really sucks, because I was hoping that the London concerts would go well for him and he'd be able to close out his music career on his own terms.
eh, he had good music 20 years ago. Thats it. He's not a god. Anyone that cries about his death needs a kick to the nuts. Poor macaulay culkin has lost a friend.
Man, the guy had his (very very serious) transgressions but his music was damn good when I was a little kid and it's not that bad today either, if you hear it once in a while. RIP.
Also, lots of bad karma in this thread. Don't speak bad of the dead stupid, they might come back as zombiez and get you. Or ghouls anyway.
Due to Michael Jacksons body being 90% plastic he will be melted down and turned into Legos.
This way kids will be able to play with him forever.
AHAH.. oh.. humm... I feel evil...
from another point of view, think about his relatives. they are all gonna become even more rich now since now that he's dead he's probably gonna release a new album every year, tupac style.

Although I do highly recommend browsing through the auction catalogs that was supposed to take place 2 months ago. Especially the arcade stuff.

edit: Oh yes and there's a really fucked up version of Max Payne coming out as well... :poly142:

Yeah, and to be honest, a lot of it is pretty pathetic.
