Man, this thread is awesome. Now I have to check out some classic AvP. Glad to see so many people also like SS2, sad that it was sorta a cult classic, though I guess this is a gamedev forum. One of my top favourite games, definitely some creepy parts in it too. That and Shodan's really hot. In terms of scary... the haunted house in VTM: Bloodlines, always stands out in my mind.
Man, I have to admit that I googled this one, but yeah, I can remember P:T being a fun game, but it was hard to follow the story with my English back then - I was 15. Games like Fallout2 were just so much easier to get into when the story was that simple.

Man, first time through the haunted house in Vampire was a great experience.
Also, the first Resident Evil had the scariest (in shock scare value) single moment I've ever seen while playing a game: the dogs that jump in the corridor from the windows, I think about halfway through the game. Damn I almost shat my pants then.
damn all my reccomendations have been made :P
i remember being totally obsessed with earthsiege 2 for quite a while.. i thought I was really clever for using the missile cam to scout out areas ahead

Nice find, gotta give Deus Ex another go with these graphics!
deus ex rocked. most non-linear story of any game ever.
