Cool stuff you got here. I personally like the 1st and 3rd ones the best. No specific reason, just caught my eye more than the others. While the others are still pretty sweet themselves.
I like the bubble shield in the first one. Mainly the thing projecting the bubble. As for the bubble itself... seems almost Halo-ish imo. Maybe something other that the hexagonal look.
Otherwise not bad. Hope to see more in the future. Keep up the good work.
cool 2d work man. Only thing that's bugging me a little is the really saturated colours all over (moreso in the first few). Looks like it'd be more suited to a fairly desaturated pallete with some more saturated areas where the interest is or just to add smaller bits of colour around.
anyways, last batch of life drawings and especially those two mechanical pics looks aws
With the saturated colours, the reason why they look off is because i usually work in a desaturated pallete, it is only as of late that ive been trying to make saturated colours work. It can be a real problem for me though as im a bit colourblind....
Anyways some morning poop... EDIT: touched it up a little more in my lunch break.
very cool style going on although in your first post (the fourth image) there was something odd that I found with the sharpness of the splash around the tire. Other than that AWESOME.
haha, that rat dude reminds me of whats his name from teenage mutant ninja turtles (the rat sensai dude :P)
as for the head, try doin 50 more and see where you end up ^__^
srsly tho, might be worth looking into my hero kevin chen: http://www.characterdesigns.com/index.php?sitepage=tutorials (check the drop down menu, then anything by kchen).
Just to get a better understanding of the major forms/volumes of the head. Also try measuring out your proportions constantly too and see if it helps any (not that i can really talk )
Im making myself a new portfolio site, and this is the start.
And lottsa sketches. Some at life drawing, others at sketchgroup. If any brisbane doods are around, come and sketch with us at starbuck in the myercenter at 10 am on a sat. We ended up going froms tarbucks to the botanical gardens and drew, then went to a pub played pool awesomly and drew, then went to another pub and drew some more. All in all an awesome day. The splash tagged along as well .
Actually that was just me copying the image putting it on multiply and blurring to get rid of the harshness scanning gives these drawings. It isnt an ideal fix but its the best fast method i know off. And they look like poo without it on my poo scanner.
A friend helped me out and told me what gave my faces the 'muzzfaceย' look and it was mostly to do with the face silhouette so i went and studied a bunch of face silhouettes and this is what i got when i applied it back to my own imaginary faces again !!!
This is a super fast page but it shows im on the path to recovery.
hehe, well in this thread i havent reall got many face drawings before that so its hard to tell, as all of my faces tend to have a very strange look that no one had really been able to put thier finger on before. I tend to post some generic comments and some personalised comments for each sketchbook thread i run across the net hence why i was talking about improvments over old drawings .
though got some badnews.... the miniusb posts on my intuos 4 came loose.... so i need to send it away to get fixed, so that means no did work for a while .
Tablet isnt covered by warranty... but they are offering me a cheap one so i will be back in action as soon as i can scrounge together $270. Ill take better care of the next one :X.
Thanks dudes. Finally got round to pullin the scanner out of the cupboard.
Oh and the trailer for the game ive been working on at work has been released. I was pretty much a solo artist on the project mius some development work at the start and a tileset. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5TlkWf0V8o
