I've been wracking my brain about what possible updates could be done to the Spy. Aside from the low health...I think the class is damn near perfect as is. Same with the demo.
The Soldier is in dire need of some love, however.
The demo should get some Claymores, so I can get the people at work to give up their (our) daily games of cod4. There's nothing more satisfying than the click that comes with someone running into one of your charges. Well, maybe the angry shouts from across the room.

Honestly, I would be happy if the only update for the spy was bringing back the potentness of the sapper as it was when TF2 first came out. Now I haven't played TF2 in a while so it may have been changed, but it took forever to sap a Level 3 sentry, to the point where an Engie didn't have to sit and guard his shit, he could be halfway across a mid size map like 2fort and still make it back in time to wrench off a sapper before it destroyed the sentry. It was lamesauce how they nerfed it.
And yes, the Soldier, being the best class in the game, needs some attention.
oh man old school team fortress was great. Remember how fun the Medic's infect was? Waiting outside of an enemy spawn infect the first guy that came out and he starts coughing. He runs back into the spawn to get some health and infects his whole team. I could hear the whole room coughing by then haha. Er not that I ever did that or anything. That's a pretty lame tactic.....Ahem.
I'm very anxious for a useful soldier though. He used to be awesome in qwtf ...he doesn't compare to a good demoman in this current version imo. Cant even kill a god damned sentry or a heavy without 4 direct rockets ...that is if there isn't a medic or engineer to heal them just slightly.
payload race gamemode! The one that was featured in the blurry pic behind the scout, but didn't make the update. Plus 2 new arena maps, yet I wish they were maps similar to cp_gravelpit

Agreed. I miss my kickass soldier.
As for nerfing the sappers, that was to encourage team play. You need to coordinate with your team so you bring down a sentry as someone comes around the corner that can hit it with something heavy. It's not all about the damage it does, its also about the time it is sitting there idle.
Its cool to see that the sniper is getting some exotic weapon replacements rather than variations of existing weapons. I wish all the classes would have received totally fresh unlockables.
The Razorback has me worried. I play a Spy, mostly. I don't really like the idea of adding an item in the game that renders one specific class useless against you. Sure, if they gave the Spy a flame resistant suit at the same time the Sniper gets a free "get-out-of-a-backstab" card I wouldn't mind it. But, this just gimps the Spy, and only the Spy, greatly. Can't say I agree with this unlockable choice.

Well, if you're behind the guy, and he hasn't noticed you, it'd be pretttttyyyy easy to just shoot him 3 times.
It'll be a pain, but given that they only get one per spawn and it takes one hit to break, it shouldn't be a huge issue. Shoot then stab. You'd need to be quick, but most snipers are completely oblivious to what's going on around them even when they're under attack so you'll still get plenty of scalps.
Yeah, I agree that it probably won't be too big of an issue as a Spy. I tend to ignore the Snipers anyhow. My only gripe is the fact that there will be an item in the game specifically designed to deter one single class. The fact that it just happens to be my favorite class just stings me a little more, hehe.
It prevents a single stab... that's it. Just shoot him dead afterwords. Your example to give spies a flame retardant suit is a bit more extreme though, unless it crumples off the body after a second or two. The Razorback isn't a permanent fixture that stops the stabbing forever.
Agreed, it's not a "haha your class is no longer a threat" but a "hey dumbass you're under attack, first and last warning".

Our starting theory was that, for death to be a positive experience, players had to feel like they could have avoided dying if they'd done something different. We found two factors that seemed to be important in light of that theory:
The first was whether or not you understand what killed you. If you don't know what killed you, that death is failing in providing you the feedback it's supposed to, and you won't be able to figure out what you could have done differently.[/quote]Snipers are one of the root causes of that "I couldn't have done anything differently" and it also happens to them a lot. If you play sniper for a while you get to know how annoying it is that you all of a sudden just die.
This shield is just a way to to explain the snipers death and give them a little feeling like they could have avoided death and possibly fought back, something tells me it won't be the great nullififer everyone thinks.
If you see a sniper with the shield on his back. Why would you even try to stab him? Why not just shoot him in the face instead. Seems pretty idiotic to me to go up to him and "stab" then shoot. Just go for the trigger instantly instead.
Now, since the Sniper got an anti-Spy unlockable....the Spy should get a flame retardant suit! Cuts fire dmg by 50%, soaks up 125hp worth of fire damage, or doesn't show flames. sommmeethhiiinnggggg
I find it completely awesome how engrossed people are in the fact that it's a female. crazy how attached valve can make people to a concept. so very very cool.
If one or both of the watches swap out the cigarette case then the spy isn't going to be able to sap sentries with his current melee range charges. Allowing him to slide them across the floor seems like a way of countering for this.
Anyway, a question for the Frenchies to settle this once and for all - that last line means "My little cauliflower", does it not?

Anyone see them calling the pyro a "she" before they pulled it?
Pyro, yep I've heard the pyro referred to as a she before... I forget where tho.

Vig: L4D MOD TOOLS RELEASE
In order for a Sniper to wear this thing, he'll probably have to give up his machine gun, or reduce his crit damage on his main weapon.
These things come at a pretty big cost. The game is perfectly balanced.

Agreed, the presentation has been great. Did anyone else happen to catch this, http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3573/spyuncloak.jpg, before it was taken down? Good stuffs.
