I'm not sure what happened to the original thread about this, but how many of you are still watching Fringe? Initially, I wasn't very big on this show, but due to a lack of anything good competing with it, I gave Fringe another chance and it sucked me in. Tonight is the finale and thought I'd strike up some conversation on it.

It's been getting a strong X Files feel to it lately, but in a good way. Hopefully they keep on track, unlike the X Files Plus, the scientist (Walter) makes the show IMO.

I totally agree. The show started out a little slow then all of a sudden *BAM* it got really good. Looking forward to finally seeing William Bell.

So it got good? I saw the first two episodes and some scene where the FBI chick was switching lights off with her mind and thought it was really bad. When I heard it was basically 'The X-Files done by JJ Abrahms' I was excited, but the cast is awful, apart from Denethor obviously, and there is really no mystery. That corporation with the secretary with the robotic hand is behind everything duh!

Might give it another go if its gotten good though.

I always liked Fringe. The pilot and following episode were slow, but I really started enjoying it after that. The insane scientist can be a little annoying at times, but it's been better since they started the second half of the season.

I love Fringe. Great show! The old crotchety crazy scientist, Walter, definitely makes the show.

love Fringe it's a great show. Though I kind of feel the opposite, it started really good and slowly has gotten worse. I liked the mystery behind the show at first because it was like wtf is this.

Yeah but that was only eventually, and once they started getting into what made X-Files a bit rubbish, focussing on the alien plot-line instead of the one off episodes. That's what I meant by there being a bit of mystery, as it was never layed out what the explanation was at the end of the episode. I think thats better; our imagination and fears come into play then, rather than having it all explained away.

yeah, im totally on board. Thank god for hulu introducing me to this show. It satisfies my x-files urges without having to pirate or buy the 800 dollar xfiles dvd box set.

I've watched it all, brilliant fun, Walter makes the show as the mad / childlike Dr Frankenstein, each week he has some new quotable moment, much like 'the dude' in Big Lebowski... never intentionally funny!

I've enjoyed the story too, the William Bell thing really is such an established scifism that I hope they make it fresh tonight in some way, but who cares, the details of the show are what are fun.

It is the Xfiles without the teenage angst 'trust no one' crap. Xfiles was good fun until they ran out of old rope though, this show seems more self aware than Chris Carter was.

The show really took me by surprise towards the middle of the season and picked up after my favorite episode (Safe). It seems like this show is at it's best when it stays focused on one particular story arc instead of the monster of the week stuff we got in the early going.

All in all this season gets an 8 out of 10 from me which makes it worthy of a DVD purchase.

Fringe is funny. I like it and hate it at the same time. I just wish they didn't treat all their viewers like freakin idiots... Some of the things they feel the need to spell out to the viewer in very long awkward straight forward dialouge just boggles me.

As far as Peter being a clone, he's not. He's Peter. He's just Peter from another dimension. Remember tonight, Walter saying he wanted to find a way to cross over because he lost something very dear to him? Peter was sickly as a kid and died, so Walter found a way to cross over and take em! Realizing how dangerous it was, he created that "plug" device to close the windows.

The cross over that Olivia did in the elevator was quite interesting. I didn't expect that to happen in an elevator of all places. Nice pan out on the twin towers, too.

I think another interesting assumption that we can make from this is that Walter stole Peter from another Walter, and we already know that walter is the type of person to go to another freakin dimension to get his son, so just think what the walter of the alt dimension would do to someone who stole his child. He's gonna be the super evil bad guy for sure. I also think they've given olivia an interesting setup for cool powers as her dimension splitting ability ramps up, although I've gotta say, I hate her character because of the writing... Still, gonna be fun.

Olivia's character has bothered me on and off through the season. Sometimes her acting is crap, which is why I was surprised to see so many like this show initially. I forced myself to overlook her crappy delivery and found I liked everyone else on the show. Not that her character is a lose, but there are times that I almost cringe a the poor acting.
I also agree... sometimes she's pretty hot, other times, her forehead and eyebrows bother me. There are worse things to look at

I think the observer may have something to do with Walter getting Peter. Maybe he helped Walter find a dimension where the Walter there dies or is a terrible person, and basically saves that dimension's Peter. Damn Abbrams and his time/dimension shit. It makes it hard to type a sentence that makes sense
I figured out the Peter thing the instant he didn't remember that coin being his favorite. This may also explain why he always calls him Walter rather than Dad. I had always assumed previously, that it was a result of Walter being put away.

This season finally rocked my socks. The last 5 minutes in particular were jaw dropping to say the least! I can't wait to see where the writers go with the other dimension element.

By the way the revelation about who Peter really is was a nice touch and should make for some interesting character moments for both Walter and his son.

I can't wait to pick this up on DVD so I can re-watch the season and see how all the little pieces came together.

Never got to see it. By the time we got cable, we'd already missed two-thirds of season one, and hulu isn't available outside the United States. Grrrr.

Finale? This was the season 2 premiere...

And it was a damned good episode! Looks like the writers and actors are getting on point now. Awesome twist at the end, can't wait to see what the season brings.

What he said, except for the last "might give it another go" part. I saw the season 2 first episode posted online today and all I could think was "bleaaargh, why hasn't this shit been cut yet". I wouldn't watch Fringe, even if they paid me $20 per episode. For $40, maybe.
