Town Well

Hello everyone, here is a model I've been working on, and I was eager to get some feedback on it. Any advice would be cool.

Personally I don't think you need to worry about making the background but there should probably be an environment in mind. For example, where is the well located? How old is it? Who uses this thing? What time period is it? I think if you made the textures tell a story of sorts it would really sell the model as a whole.
Right now I would say that the wooden parts and roof are way too clean looking. I'm not sure if the grey model in the middle is showing normals or not. If you are indeed using a normal map, I would like to at least see the rocks of the well generated from a highpoly to make them pop out more and add more interest. Also, I think for the base part it could really use a chamfer on the edge if you can afford it. Also be particularly careful with the texture in that area if it will actually be seen.
I hope this doesn't sound harsh because its a great start. Keep going man!

Well, I do have an environment in mind; I was planning for a rural renacance era kind of village. The kind of village that only has a couple of houses in it but still has shingled roofs.
Thank you for the advice. I’ll get to work on putting some mold and a little more age into the clean parts of the textures, and I’ll work on the other details as well.

At first glance, and I wish I could afford more time to write something more useful so take this for what its worth: But right now the triangle count is too low for any sort of game where you'd be up close to this and the textures are too noisy for an RTS.

What's the game or genre or platform (or all of the above) that you'd make this for?
