I just checked this out last night -- it was freaking amazing! Finally some really good sci-fi. It felt like it had a lot of influence from the sci-fi greats in it, and being a bit of a sci-fi nut I definitely appreciated that. And everything in it was fantastically done. Sam Rockwell was amazing, the direction was great, and I really loved the visual style.
Anyways, yea, this movie is definitely worth seeing.
hey dude, where did you see it? in vancouver somewhere? if so tell me where please. much appreciated
i'll bite, this looks great. but another reason i HATE trailers
Don`t worry, the trailers don`t really spoil much. I was worried about the same at first. (Atleast the ones I saw didn`t)
But yea, we caught it here in Vancouver. It was at the 5th Avenue Cinemas on Burrard and 5th.
I`m not sure if it`s actually showing there yet or not though. My girlfriend`s company got tickets for it, and I think it may have been a pre-screening or something. Probably worth calling and checking though.
Ohhh sure you find the direct link to the trailer...
I can't wait to watch this, i really need another movie in the same vein of sunshine and 2001.
Sunshine was freakin awesome. Im also very excited to see this, but I have to agree with what others have said... there's something terribly familiar about this. Im sure its going to be well worth admission either way.

It`s definitely familiar, but not in a bad way. It actually makes really good use of the expectations already established in the genre to improve itself. It`s totally it`s own movie, it just knows how to make use of what came before it.
And Ferg - that totally sucks. The IMDB page gives way too much away. I have a buddy who had it spoiled by a review as well... I really wish that people (especially professional journalists for christ`s sake) would learn how to avoid spoilers. :S
It was sold out at the Edinburgh Festival in a very short space of time, but I know a few people that managed to see it the other night and gave a lot of praise.
At least it's going to play there, I have a feeling it's not coming to Vancouver. I figured tinsel town would get it, but nothing is listed on their site. Only hope now is if the one on granville gets it, but I might as well wait for the bluray instead.

I imagine that the Fifth Avenue Cinemas (5th and burrard) will get it, given that I saw a screening of it there. :P
Saw it in tinsel town in Vancouver last night. Really awesome movie! I would say it’s entirely about misdirection. The trailer, the plot, the characters... everything seems to be placed to do exactly what you don’t expect. It’s not action, it’s not horror, and it’s barely even suspense. Just sort of a thinking-man’s movie. Also has way more comic relief than I expected, especially in the more dramatic moments. Give it a unique feel.
In a way, it’s kind of like what I wanted the second half of Sunshine to be. More thinking and no actiony superhuman stuff.
The staggered release sucks, as it's only playing in one theater in all of Dallas. So looks like I'll be renting on DVD or downloading because of this shieet.

Hopefully that will be really soon. I think it has the potential to be huge once it goes digital/DVD. I know that's probably the only way I'll see it and I want to really bad...
Just saw it here in Dallas, excellent movie. Have to watch it again, wife got the references in the radio at the end but I missed em. Damn sucky hearing.

first thing that came to my mind though:
also, the first shot of the outside made me think that this could be a real DOOM movie, unlike the utter crap that was the DOOM movie with the rock.
but yeah, this looks very interesting. when's it out?

Awesome, definitely well deserved IMO.
