Hi folks, I made some indecipherable scribbles for all the classes and the only one I find remotely promising is this Demon Prince wielding a big block of wood. I think he could work with some refinements... but I'll keep searching a little longer
WOW- that's defiantly different for some reason. I like the fact that its just a gnarly block of wood, like its a chunk of pure evil or something. Reminds me of that movie time bandits at the end when the kids parents explode because they simply touched it..
I really like the colors,, and the fact that he doesn´t have any /tribal/manga/wow featured like weapon. And I also like the flayed feeling. What he could use is a more interesting lower body and perhaps a more defined collar of some sort, not necessarily a cloth collar, maybe a more organic one. And perhaps he should have something of his weapon on him, like woodpart sticking out his back...
The head shape is awesome.:D
Wicked looking concept. Maybe nail the wood block into his hand or strap the block of wood to his arm with barbed wire. I really like it so far keep it up!
that is one gorgeous painting man, i like the concept as well it looks like his "clothing" is made of flesh...which is awesome. i like the simplicity of the weapon and the exposed heart is a nifty touch keep em comin!
This is a great initial concept. I just think you need to take it...EVEN FURTHER! I like Woogity's comment about his clothes looking like they are made of flesh. Throw a couple sewed-in human faces on his robe. I like the "big block of wood" idea. I just think it needs to be expanded upon. Just plain-old wood is no good. It needs to be cursed wood, or wood grown from a tree watered with the blood of a thousand executed serial-killers. Maybe have a sigil or two carved into the thing.
that's sooo soooo good, probably my favourite concept though it may be tricky to realise as well in 3d. I actually really like the simplicity of the artifact, if you are looking to add something perhaps it could be a tablet of demonic commandments, he etches into it with his quill and opponents melt into goo
The plainness of the wood beam is definitely working, but I think the composition could benefit from improving the eeriness of the beam by one or more of the following:
making the wood grain super gnarled
set the beam on fire! (different flavor than orange fire?)
exposing the bark chipped away where it makes contact frequently
convert it into a demon totem pole!
add numerical carvings for number of victims
contort a spirit stuck in the wood frame, like a petrified victim
convert it into an entire tree, baring rotten/corrosive polycount fruits that drop from the branches and splatter in steamy, bubbling puddles
I'm sure you'll stay true to the awesome factor. Good luck man
phil, what are you talking about. ive seen more demonic heels than that at the mall. GIVE HIM SOME KISS BOOTS.
this is really cool so far. maybe meld the coat into the skin a little more. it looks like the tumor is bleeding over somewhat already. do me a favor and slap phil for me, he needs to be kept in line
there is a tangent with his arm going behind his back and some texture on his shirt which was making me think he was holding a revolver.... As soon as i realized he wasnt i was unhappy .
its looking badass regardless and ill keep an eye on this thread.
Hey guys, thanks for all the comments. I'm a little surprised but happy that people seem to 'get' it
Irksomely, though, I might have to lose the log factor after re-reading the Demon rules. I missed that he has to have an inborn power of fire, ice or darkness, and that could conflict with such a prominent prop We shall see! Also, sorry about the unclear left arm-- a couple people at work today commented that they couldn't tell what was going on there.
concept. style is fantastic. this will look superb in 3d. as others have said there is simplicity in the design but its very pleasing on the eye
could the log be instead a piece of rock from the demon underworld, and agree with others about insignias, scripture or victims numbers
If you turned off all the rendering you did, and just looked at his silhouette, it just looks like a normal plain biped ... if you worked with the silhouette a little more, then you'll have a more interesting design. Right now, it's just a cool drawing.
tick tok tick tok! times runnin up! go mynki go!!! Lookn great! Cant wait to see this rendered out. Its fun looking all bloby, but the details to come is the exciting part!
Really great shapes in this guy, its almost as if his posture sweeps into the back of his head. I really dig the concept though, love the colours, the log, and the grin on his face.
Very very interesting! The concept sketch is sweet!
Since this guy's meant to be some kind of prince, did you consider making his block of wood something more ornate? Although that big black block does give a good imposing monolith feeling, there should be a way to give it a lot of detailing without losing that element. I would see some kind of black marble material with some interesting inset carving at both ends that are sublte enough not to steal attention from the block.
Lookin good dude, that low poly bake turned out nice. The mouth seems kinda noisy, maybe refining the teeth a bit more would help make it more readable.

I like this, very cool, even with just a log hehehe A bit of a christ carrying the cross refference there?
I really dig the demon design, and while loving the log, it might need some more craziness.
*thumbs up*
this drawing is really great. hope your 3d is as good!
haha youtube is awesome : right around 1:45
The head shape is awesome.:D
Got some Khan chest going on.
lol.
Log is badass, cool posture, very regal and aristocratic.
Now get back to work! xD
Also would love to see the other sketches.

looks like a great start!
right now theres a pretty cool hoof look going on, but the heel just seems too similar to an average size high heeled shoe;
So stylish - elegant and not overdone. It has a Capcom feel to it.
Kickass Mike!
keep going, man.

Here's what my prince is looking like now. I'm still aiming to finish him on time-- here's hoping
Well, I worked on the body & tightened things up somewhat, then did another test-bake since I can't stop myself :S
Tried him out in xNormal (that's what I used for my Mini guy, compositing three renders with the light moved)...
...and in Marmoset. I'm certainly preferring Marmoset so far.
That's it for now, I can't wait to add his moustache
Spark
BAD ASS !!
Do you have more recent stuff of this character ?
Yeh i dare you to slap a stash' on him
Other than that, Looking good, but you already knew that =p
