I noticed polycount seems to be the source of my favorite entries, and that the people here seem helpful enough to make a difference. So here we go....

I'll be another one of 'those' people... going with the alchemy fad...



I don't think I like any of them. They look more alien than demon, and I'm more interested in the demon part of this contest. I figured I might as well post them anyways for input/ proof of progress. I've been a bit ansy to get a thread started.

I should post some new concepts soon enough.

I think the bottom left-hand thumb in the top set is kind of interesting-- not sure how to make a character out of it, but it could be interesting

But the bottom left kinda reminds me of some plant monsters in final fantasy's.

The rest of them have too many thin limbs, which I'm not a fan of

Some more sketching here... thanks for the input. Im kind of a fan of multiple limbs, so we'll see what ends up happening. I'm not sure how I want to make the base yet, or if this character will be vertical or horizontally based, or even if this is the route I'll go... progress is progress though

haha yes! could make him longer like a demented version of caterpillar from alice in wonderland, little arms getting progressively stubby down his body. really like the face

Funny thing kite, I wasn't even thinking about that, the idea seems pretty interesting though.

I like the last one on the left with the mouth body emerging from the large head. Very different from the others. A bit more crazy. Reminds me of the the final boss monster from The Thing.

What do you mean exactly? I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused. If you're wondering what I've been referencing, I've been looking at a lot of different sea creatures...

er- and sorry kite, I thought I responded before, I like the idea but I think I want this guy to be a little more mobile than a caterpillar.

A friend suggested I try making my creatures more connected with reality, something people could relate to. Here's a sketch I did of a bat/parasite thing. I guess what I was thinking was that this parasite would invade the host, and warp the design of this host to it's benefit. Protruding out of the belly for a snack. I'm not sure I like it.

Once again, any comments/ suggestions would really be appreciated!

It was only a few seconds that the bird had obtained sentience, but it was just enough. The first thoughts in it's head were

I WISH FOR.....
A FUTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and so it was. A future filled with unending pain and hunger, a future spent as a demon unrecognized by peers and feared by all.

That raven looking guy on the bottom left is hawt. Try that.

Thanks coldkodiak. I really like the idea of the mouth arms, but I like the upper left a little more. Although it does feel unbalanced and I might try adding a tail of sorts to work that out.

For now, here are some revised heads. I need to look at some more birds. I'm kind of liking the middle right and the upper left out of these. I might change the mouth on the upper left though, I don't think I like that parrot like style.

Some body concepts. I kind of liked my centipede guy so I gave it another shot with his lower body. Tried combining my anenome guy and the arm head in the bottom left. I've got more ideas, however, my lunch break is over now

I like the body to this one, I'm just not sure about the head. I might like it better in a clearer sketch. I might want to change it. Whatever the case, at least I'm closer to what I want out of this!

A little clearer there. I'm going to try it with another head I like later on tonight. Then, if I can't think of anything else, I'll probably decide between the two and start my sculpt

Hhahahah, oh man, chewing ears, I hadn't even thought of that
I was going with the concept thinking that he would be eating out of the main mouth and the arms could be grabbing things as well and eating them, one big eating machine.

Here's a new set of heads. Let me know which ones you guys like! I'm a fan of 1, 4 and 5. Also, should the main big arms be hands or claws/mantis like limbs? I'm debating which I like more.

If you see a head you like but wish it had elements that another head have, please say so!

I like number 1 as well, but I'd make the head a little larger, it looks a bit bottom heavy atm, if it was like 2's proportions, it'd be bang on imo.

Sounds good! After looking at it again it does look like the head is a tad small. Thanks for pointing that out!

How frustrating. My max just decided to start corrupting my last four saves or something. I'm probably going to try to do the base mesh at work or something tomorrow..

that is frustrating, i had my cs licence corrupt the first fewdays of the comp, and had to reformat to clear it out of my regestry< that thing has deep evil roots> but 1 and 4 for me keep working on it and save a ton.

Cool stuff, I'm glad you went with the head you did. As far as the silhouette goes the front looks great but imo the back still feel rather bland... something like that could have a backwards set of legs on it like a grasshopper to help balance the weight in addition to those legs and monkey arms. The prey mantis arms are a nice touch but they feel very impractical coming directly from the torso, perhaps they should wrap into the sides a bit more with a slight bit of shoulder definition.

Interesting idea, I'm not sure if I like it or not. It does kind of 'ground' the character a bit more, but I think it feels somewhat bland at the same time. It makes it look more like a spider and I'm not sure I like that
I kind of like the idea that the creature would lumber over with it's forarms and hind legs like a giant anteater and drags the sack behind it.



EDIT: A friend at work suggested centipede legs, I might do this...

What a great head, this is fantastically intriguing! I imagine tiny pupils in the eyes, but no iris. -But then maybe a really freaky iris burning with hatred for the large, center eye.

Very impressive composition, strive for more asymmetry, this guy would rock it!

Just cleaning up the mesh- sorry it's not a big update
Ok- I need input. I have three ideas for the polycount logo, but I'm not sure which one to use!

#1- Sack with logo on it (like a black widow)
#2- Transparent sack with logo faced eggs
#3- Sack bursting open with logo inside

Please give your opinion!

I'm hesitant to do #2 because I ended up seeing the idea somewhere else Maybe if I ask them?
