Nice paintin'! Cool idea too, definitely in the norm category. She'll probably break out of that quite a bit once you add the wings and the shield. I'm not sure what app you plan in using but if you need someone to do a wing rig for ya I'll be more then happy to help.
Really interesting idea can't wait to see the next update! I think a pet might not work so well because she is a flying character, but I like the idea of a big scythe that would really add something to her silhouette.
ya, I dig the attitude in her posture/cig/etc. I also really like the idea of the dual wielded machetes as weapons! I feel like weapons in these things tend to get REALLY ornate, complicated, and heavy, and I like the simplicity and badassery of "I have 2 fucking machetes, bring it."
Here's my progress for the night. Not sure about the spear, I was just thinking of something that a Valkyrie would have...will probably change it. I was actually going to give her something really ornate and heavy and impractical...but Tumerboy has a good point...so now I'm reconsidering.

I like the shape of the shield, the spear could work. I think giving her pistols would evoke too much "Underworld" I'd keep her with some sort of pointy/slicey weapon(s).
totally -- can't give her everything. I like the slicey stabbies. If you give her too many weapons it'll detract from the overall slickness of your character. keep it up, awesome work!
I'd suggest getting rid of the two swords and just giving her one big ornate pike thing and the shield, to suggest that its so efficient for demon killing that you don't need anything else. But it all depends on what you envision for the character. Great work!
I think it's a split between people who like the shield and wings, and people who don't...so I think I'll do what I originally planned and if people are still split, i'll try a different way. Not sure I can tonight since I have to get ready for GDC, but soon I'll post an update.
So I stayed late again today to work on the concept, but here's more of what I was picturing with the spear and shield.
The idea of the shield is that she skinned the face off of a demon lord and that maybe the other demons wouldn't want to attack it (something about desecration) and so it would be a shield against their attacks since a regular shield probably wouldn't work.
nice. I know I'll be out numbered, but I liked the simpler design, sans armor pieces and such. Though it will help tie her weaponry to her.
Maybe the demon's face should have a couple of smaller horns and bumpy bits on his forehead etc.?
I think the halo should be pretty subtle, and made entirely of smoke from her cigarette. I can't tell if that's what your'e going for, or if it's just a coincidence that her cig smoke ends where her halo is.
The shield is bad ass man, I think that it will work really well. I agree with the other about the addons making here harder to read on the concept but I think that when you model her out you will need them there to make her more interesting. I still think that the spear is a little weak. It would be nice to have something larger to counter balance how small she is, but it's up to you. Nice man, we are rooting for you keep it up!!

I think people are still split about the design choices, but I'm not certain there is a way to please everyone. I'm hoping that once I start modeling and texturing, the final design of everything along with the colors will help the different parts to read better.

This concept is so awesome, I really love the style, the look, the idea, the details... all of it. Hmm, but perhaps its also cause I'm biased in that I love badass tough sexy chicks and angel wings? Hmm. Nope, still awesome!

man, i like this one. the concept isnt too far out there, but shes still baddass. I do like the concept of the sheild though, even forgetting the idea of demons not wanting to descicrate (isnt that what they do by definition?), I still wouldnt want to attack a person who had stretched the faces of my countrymen across their armor. good work! cant wait to see a sculpt!
Finally recovered from GDC and the super flu that I picked up there but after seeing some of the progress on the other threads, I feel like I'm behind. I've been working on the base mesh and other random parts. Here's my update for the boots.

as for the jeans, true some folds could stand to be a bit crisper but you really seem to have a good handle on it. just go off some reference from i guess fashion pics or crap like that.
I prefer updates on both personally- that way people wanting to look into the thread can see the progression, and it keeps everything in context while still providing the casual passer by the most recent goods.
af for the model I actually like the folds a lot, what bothers me is the calf on the boot seems really thin- beef that puppy up and give your girl some curvy legs! Also the heel extension doesn't look like its far back enough.
I work on the folds a little more and the boots. I'm finding it hard to find a reason to sculpt details in zbrush that would probably not show up in the normals and would be better if textured...like small folds and stitching and such, but I see other people doing those types of details...is there a benefit to sculpting it?

I'd say the benefit to sculpting it would be the fact that it's easier to place on the texture itself. Also, you never know whether something will be noticeable or not when actually in the engine

I always think, sculpting/modeling fabric folds is the way to go, They can come out looking great ingame. Much better than if you were to just texture them on, imho

I'd flatten out the toe and widen the hips just a bit too.
