These are all great! Good to see some 2D entries pop up here. The cluster demon is a really cool idea. I too can see how he could totally ruin an evening out with folks. You could perhaps add some lighter stuff to the design to complement those heavy main shapes, like bits of cloth or some sort of staff, more/longer blades, etc.
@saidin311: yeah i like the traditional look of the trident as well, i think i'll be pulling it into my final.
@aimbiz: done and done friend! great suggestion!
been a little busy, but after a few suggestions i decided i liked a few things from all the demons i did up. so here's the clusterfiend combo version 1!
i pushed the build more and gave his heads little wisps to suggest some more movement, i also am thinking about making those crystalline spines some kind of growth that's taking over that area of his shoulders. the rings around the spines keep it from overtaking his entire body.
i kept the shovelabra and gave it a sweet glowing chain attachment to break up the regular look of it. he also had a heart transplant that replaced his small rock hard coal of a heart with a demonic reactor!
his pauldron is contiinuously exploding out all those souls he kept from a proper rest and they are tormented inside the pauldron like some kind of armored torture device.
so i decided to lump some of my previous ideas together but i really hung around my first design for the build and the spines and the desecration of the dead. the pose is pretty standard but i needed to start focusing my work somewhere. anyways, had a lot of fun with this one, more to come!
i do think theres something off about the size/proportion of his torso when compared to his arms, head, and legs. Those 3 fit well, but his big bulking chest seems outta place. Maybe its just me?
Yay! the 3 pronged shovel makes a return! Your designs are getting more refined and it looks like you spent some good time on this one. Hopefully you can decide on something!
@adambrome: hey dude thanks for dropping by! i'm gonna be balancing out those proportions a little on the final piece, hey are a little extreme at the moment, i actually think its cause i ran out of canvas.
@lojack: yes! the more love the merrier! thanks for checking it out lojack!
@gav: and more you shall receive! sexcellent hearing from you gav, rock on.
@ged: goin for the action shot for super coolness. and my final is gonna be this guy and i'm hoping for an early finish.
@pestibug: about the blades, i need to pick an element or whatever so i'm going with death so i can make him surfing a corpse wave and throwing torsos around. so now they shall slice souls!!
@gosss: glad you like the notes! they'll keep coming until the final images!
@aimbiz: never fear! i'll be sure to rock out those poses in my model sheet!
@davidskiwan: wicked! keep bringin' the love. lets get the green and gray going!
@foreverendering: glad you "dig" the shovelabra!... BWAHAHAHA i crack myself up.
@kamui: yes i did spend more time on that last one, i'm starting to focus on this dude so my final will be looking closer to this dude.
@meshiah: *high fives and super secret handshake* thanks for the boost man!
@wizo: WIZO!!! awesome to hear from you dude. i shall hopefully keep up the awesome. how about after the dom-war storm passes we get on another sketch trade hmmm?
@bounchfx: yeah man! eyes as nipples! WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW!?!?!?!
@woods: that's some really good news woods, glad to hear inspiration is coming out of this thread as well.
so i pushed out an action shot to get my little clusterfiend a second in the spotlight.
here he is surfing on a wave of corpses! he rides his pet "sally the sentient sarcophagus" over the crest of the disgusting white cap.
the shovelabra has made a third appearance, more like the original i found the chain to be a little too much. as you can also see when demon's eat too much pizza from hell and nachos they get "hate handles" these are much like our own "love handles" but much much more evil.
the slicers now slice souls of the dead and he uses this energy to use his awesome corpse-craft! here he is casting "torso typhoon"! its a really gross spell that blasts his enemies with noxious corpse gas and a whirlwind of splintered bones.
the armor is keeping the same appearance i think and his heads are a little more compact for easy drawing and very madballish at the moment, these may go through a few more iterations.
so here you have it! my latest rough! the next few drawings are going to be details and more focused areas, i really like the idea of a coffin surfboard cresting over a wave of corpses so i'll be sure to tie it in there. but i wonder, is a surfboard a "vehicle" that will get me disqualified? i suppose i can make it his "mount" and get away with it.
"never fear! i'll be sure to rock out those poses in my model sheet!"
I believe you now! This is getting more and more awesome for every picture you do. The design is much more balanced as well. A really good choise to give him the grayish colors since make all the green parts stand out much more.
When you say "torso typhoon" I can't help to think about cannibalcorpse taking a more humoristic turn in their songs. :P
Again, sweet work mate. I'm looking forward for the next update!
haha,
hate handles made me smile. Cool and cartoony design. Love his grave digger shovelabra and fun details like the rune exclamation marks. have you given the composition in the final piece any thought or do you normally flesh out your characters like this to get a feel, first?
nice line work dude. i really like your ortho in post #58, but I feel like you lost some of his character in your latest comp.
for instance, i like the way multiple personalities come across within each floating face in your ortho design, but in his action pose, all the heads are strictly the same mood, and have lost their "whimsical little pointy head" shapes. know what i'm saying?
@konstruct: oh yes he shall be surfing on corpses! and embrace the hate handles friend!
@r4ptur3: awesome! *high fives* glad you dig the tubular surfing and torso storm! i shall try and bring it all together on the final piece!
@richkid: that's great to hear! i'm glad i have helped make you happy! and i absolutely LOVE card games and have always wanted to work on one. maybe when the storms over i can play around with some layouts and maybe drum up some interest with the more designery guys around here.
@joey pistone: *high five to awesome handshake* thanks brother!
@breakneck: yes! thanks for mentioning that venemous vixen sally the sentient sarcophagus! you rock dude, been loving your stuff.
@mongrelman: *dual high five to bro-grab* thanks for the suggestion dude, i shall be doing that on the big finale!
@aimbiz: thanks for the encouragement! and the colors are really just for clarity but i am becoming pretty attached to them. and boy would that be cool if "butchered at birth" was redone with a little more comedy, i found it was severly lacking in the laughs ;P.
@wasker: you got it right on your guess pal, this is how i get my ideas down, i just keep drawing full dudes cause its more fun for me that way. im sticking with the shovelabra and the lighter style cause you gotta roll with what you know right? and sally is the name of his coffin surf board. i was hesitant on making it JUST a surfboard cause somebody could argue that it's a vehicle and then i'd get disqualified, so i made it his "pet" or "mount" by making it intelligent and throwing a set of eyeballs on 'er.
@mifflefish: *fist-pound to head-butt* thanks man! they are here for good!
@akaperly: i do know what your saying and the final will have a lot more character. i was going for speed on the last one there so they did look pretty similar. thanks for noticing! and btw i really like your convict design with the demon armor and the horn shiv. keep up the great work.
man it's been too long, i was working on that mandatory modeling sheet and it took longer than i anticipated. so i really got to know all the angles of my clusterfiend, that was pretty horrifying. i gave our demonic prince a proud name DESECRATOR DANG!
and here he is we can see the elements that i've carried on throughout the iterations and without the shovelabra (in this picture only of course) we can see alot more of our dude. the hate handles are there as well as the signal lights on the back of his boots (hey just cause he's a demon doesn't mean he's inconsiderate). the sould slicers are still there bringing some more menace to his look and the pectoral eyeballs keep a constant visual vigil for stray souls and graves that need desecrating and digging.
in this image we can also see his demon wieght championship belt and the power of polycount exploding through his very core! and being barely contained with some evil shoelaces!
heres the original in case the forums are messing with it too much
highly cool good sir. the trident shovel is one of the most intresting ideas ive seen all competition. love all the little floating heads as well. lots of personality...literally.
That Modeling sheet is Joustastic! (yes we should replace fantastic with Joustastic)
Many have said it, you ve got style and lots of talent. One of my 2D favs for sure.
Good luck!.
PS. definately a yes for the sketch trade. its a good idea to wait a bit after DWVI...I think Ill be spent hehe
@jarvgrimir: yes! thanks for the feet thumbs up! and for visiting desecrator dang!
@woogity: *high fives* thanks man! the shovelabra is staying for sure as well as his piles and piles of heads.
@r4ptur3: triple thumbs! great! i'm also noticing we have the same hours as you tend to post at the same time as me. which is cool.
@wizo: *bro grab* thanks man! and yes after the smoke has cleared we shall trade again!
@drywall: *manly chest bump* thanks for the boost tex!
@fletchrrr: glad to hear there's some more love for the corpse wave! it's going to be an integral part of the background in the final image.
@killingpeople: i kept some of the chains on the last one, i found it just lost too much integrity when seperated, lost its "shovelocity" in v2.0
@nynedown: yes! glad to hear this shit is fantastic, i'll keep it coming!
so another sheet done up before the final drawing! here we see a board full of some poses and prop details. we can also see that some jerk has put an "excorsize me" sign on him. the shovelabra takes up the left side of the image while some action shots of our surfing demon prince make up the middle.
the pet coffin is chock full of corpse waves and propels the demon all over the place on a disgusting wave of gangrenuos decay.
so starting to do the final composition, will get some updates soon!
oh man, i cannot believe the effrontery of slapping a sarcastic sign on his back! and who could pull off such a hijink, with so many peepers peeping in every direction.
clearly, this means war.
if one of his heads had a mustache, and another a festive hat of some sort, i would declare this winner right now. As it is, it is merely Awesome in all five major categories. Don't get me wrong - it will still win, but you'll have to wait for the judging.
I suggest you darken the background around the concept elements for your final presentation concept sheets. The concept elements on the last sheet don't pop out as well as they could because the background has the same value as the concepts. Sorry if the presentations are still in a wip phase... as I am sure they. I'm just throwing it out there

Awesome work!
I also love the little dude with the huge pitchfork in your lastest thumb batch!
@peppi: good call, i'll be giving those suggestions a shot on my next piece for sure.
@zatoichi: noted. i'll be adding more leg armor and blades soon.
@tumerboy: lol

this one looks amazingly solid. I'm struggling to find something constructive to say so ...
