Alright.... Evil Demons! Going to stew on this for a bit. I'll probably really get into it after GDC. But this will give me time to think up what i want to do!
Demon Prince perhaps.......... mmmm eeeeviiilllllll
Ok.... after much fighting with the concept and tooling things around this is what i have.
Uh, Demon Prince -Ice
Demon prince is a sort of baluga/whale (baleen mouth) guy wearing crabby armor. He is riding a giant Sea Sug type of steed. The inborn power is Ice... the steed can freeze water as it moves along that it glides around on. the ice breaks away and dissipates behind him. He can glide around like a jet ski creating big walls of ice etc.... the thing on the back of the mount is a sort of throne/saddle deal.
His armor is defense and he has a big ice sword
I best get to it!! i feel way way behind. I dont know how in hell i am going to get this all done.
This is him stripped down. He has 4 arms (right now) and this just shows him with out gear.
I can appreciate the idea, The forms aren't popping out for me.
I think the stance of the rider, doesn't feel solid. it feels like he's gonna fall back.
It's really hard to see what's going on with the slug mount. I don't see any facial landmarks.
I don't get what is going on with the hand (Wing) on the back of the slug.
and the Rider, does he have 4 arms? or a Huge Claw arm?
I think if you balance the shapes and this will work a lot better. The Idea is there, just Don't make me work so hard to see it. OH NO I DI"NT!
Don't hate me.
Josh: thanks for the crits. To help answer a few things... The slug head is kinda scalloped and souless.. I was thinking of doing the PC logo on its face kinda like a false-face like moths have etc.. I didn't realize it was so hard to read its head in the pic. But yeah its basically faceless scallop type stuff.
Ah, the thing out the back of it is the seat/saddle. made out of like drift wood and kelp etc.. i'm thinking it goes through to the front where it wraps around (through cuts/tears in the steed... to make it kinda gross). He's basically riding up out of the saddle.
Uh, he has 4 arms. its poorly shown here. But he has 2 big arms and one is for defense which has the crab armor on it and the other is offense with the sword. The two smaller arms are tucked down lower and hold onto the reigns (which is like fish netting that wraps around the steed)..
I have some modeling done of that and will post it.
All in all its pretty confusing cause its mostly just basic forms and stuff shown. its not really rendered. especially the steed. i could see the belly area of the steed being really gross. Sadly i feel like i'm running out of time. but perhaps i'll re-think some things.... if not the whole entire thing. oyyyeee......
Outside of Guile it's cool seeing a connection at least visually between all your works. The eyes/mouth make me think that. It's almost like they are from the same universe. Looking forward to seeing more.
looks better in 3d.
I really like what you have going on. The concept didn't really describe it well, but seeing the 3d I know you know what your'e doing. Looks awesome.
Oh wow yeah it looks a lot better in 3d, you have a good chance to put some wicked skin detail on it like barnacles or other sea life stuck on its skin.
Cavett: Thanks
Josh: Cool, i'm glad things are looking up. i'm starting to get into it a little more. I'm still playing with things though which is tough. I wish i could just hammer on a concept but its looking like i'll be trying a few things. i'll probably focus a lot on this one guy.
Vrav: Yes! i looked at a lot of those.. thanks for the site man. they are awesome creatures
Spark: Cool man. i'm still playing with some things to see what will be best.. i'm glad people are digging it. I'm hoping over time i can work him over with details etc.. that reall fill him out and make it cool. right now i have a few ideas. Doing the whole sea thing makes it tougher.
coldkodiak: hehe, thats mostly a paint over of the face so i can see where i want to go.
He looks great, i love the way he rides that thing in the concepts, very nice :P The 3d is coming along great too, I cant wait to see how you progress.
shit stunning...damn good eye in combining the two from your concept. what are you doing for the furry bits, paint effects grass converted to polys? it looks fantastic, love the netting on his belt and the gill slits are a stroke of pure genius.

What i'm looking at for the full thing
Quicky image of him moving along...
In that image above though he's on an ocean surface... i should have drawn that in better

but the slug certainly needs some detail and a good focal point or two to help make him feel more congruent with the prince
still figuring some thigns out. like with the tenticle fused action....
he's wearing a crab guard thing on his arm so i guess the tentacle would be wrapped up in there.. strapped in.
in any case. perhaps i could just focus on this dude and just try to make him look cool. *shrug*.

Cant wait to see it sculpted!
