I would say you will get away with it because it looks like part of the creatures brow/forehead . really nice one teeny crit her abs look a bit too square-perfect.
This is looking really good! I love the details you managed to get on that spinal cord!
Looking forward to seeing how it comes out in the final version
Here's the bake. Not the best bake I've had. The uv's on the armor are way too small- if I have time I'll adjust that. The textures need a lot of cleanup. I might desaturate the diffuse more. Anyhoo, it's getting close. Thanks for the comments!
Rigging doesn't look too bad
I think overall you really need to sit down with the textures before anything else. There's a lot of stuff going on in the shape of this thing, and its really hard to read right now. You should focus on separating shape and figure elements, and helping viewers understand what they are looking at.
It's a cool model, you want people to understand it
ColdKodiak- I know what you mean, but at this point I'm pretty stumped. I don't know how to improve it. I've isolated areas as light and dark, trying to direct the viewer, but I agree- it doesn't seem to be enough. I'm open to suggestions.
I spent some of today working on the base- big disappointment there. And I worked a little on the specular. Here's the current state:
Here's the textures so far (didn't include the glow). I'll work on the spec and spec power today. I'm having an awful time with the base, no idea when that'll get done.
Great character man. She looks like one nasty bitch!
The textures do look a bit "plastic" atm. I think its because of your spec map. You have alot of color in. Dont need it. At all. Desaturate it. Add and add some slight color varations to your diffuse. Iam having the same issues w/ my character.
One of the most original concepts, so weird, i dig. Warrants the invention of a steel condom. Getting some more flesh tones in the woman might help with your colors. Keep the little "detail" above the monster face, hahah, its cool. Maybe punch up those green lines and dots/indentations so they really glow, or stand out. If you don't want her to read as warm flesh tones, then I would pump some blue into the skin, to feel cold and zombyish. Either of those should help bring out some life in her/him/......it
Okay, so I tightened the green glows and worked on the spec color some. Still no glossiness map- not sure if I'll bother. I have a spec color and spec level at this point.
This image has a wee bit of photoshoppery, nothing too crazy. With the deadline extended I guess I'll have time to play around with this more, so if anyone has more advice I'm all ears.
Ha ha! Great text image. Very machine clan like though.
Perhaps That may work if you change the blue colour to a green one
in order to match other sheets. But still it may not bring "Demoness"
to once mind. I like it anyway. Good luck for the last three days.
We can damn well try! It's looking pretty damn good
I like the idea you've gone for in your text image too.
I do feel like some parts of your textures are too dark though - they seem to be obliterating/hiding detail. Not sure if it's the lighting or the textures themselves causing that.
dehebo- thanks!
MoP- I agree, the darkness is problematic.... probably due to an overlay I threw on to boost the glowing bits (at least in the beauty shot). But the textures are pretty dark. I'm just so happy to almost be done- not sure if I'll fix anything today.
I just updated the first page here, put all the final pics on it, and submitted them to the contest. Turns out I had to redo the text one because you can't go with a vertical 1200x1000 format (they should tell us these things!). Also, I really wish I'd known to put a thumbnail up in the entry section. Now I get my entry on the last page like all you other slackers .
Well, it's been fun. I have about five minutes left before I have to leave, so it's over for me, no more last minute changes, so sorry. I said it on the first page, but I'll say it again here- thanks to everyone for all the feedback- the support, the advice, etc. I know it's hard with so many entrants to give anyone any time (I didn't give much, honestly) so I appreciate what I got.

And no, don't worry
(nice job btw)
But seriously-armor is reaaaly cool, love it!
Looking forward to seeing how it comes out in the final version
She's around 8950 tris, with bow. Maybe I should make some drool.

any chance you could post your maps? some colored spec would go a Looooong way, and a spec power map would do wonders.

Vig- thanks a lot!
here's the beauty shot.
-man, this 350k file size limit totally blows. Not happy.

....maybe I'm just being too clever.

Here's my busy, crowded Construction picture.
Also like the glowing nipples, nice touch, haha.
