Amazing, looks really good! It feels like I just arrived at the final boss for a 2D game with amazing art direction :D Hehe

Just one question: Is there a reason it looks very desaturated? I'd love to see it with more vibrant colours :)

I think your monitor isn't calibrated properly. As Mezz mentioned, all of your images are noticably lighter and less saturated than they look like they should be.

You've got some nice work here. If you haven't submitted yet, you'd do well to fix the levels. Even if you have, it might be worth contacting Fred and requesting to resubmit with fixed version - it'd be a shame to let that all that effort and good work go to waste.

    For Jackablade & Mezz:

I edited the final images below. I did change the saturation before I submitted but I think the Final Illustration still needs work. I have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to digital painting. Thanks to all who helped me through this. Good luck in the judging process.

Can't wait until the next Mini DW Challenge and Unearthly Challenges :)

excellent to see you finished, the character is cool and theres alot to look at. in fact I would say thats my one crit, you could work more on values and specularity, bring some parts forward and push others back by using contrast in the foreground and subdued tones in the background or using warm colours in from and cool behind, just some food for thought. at the moment it looks alot like a model that has been textured and then an ao pass added on top but no lighting or atmospheric haze applied - do you know what I mean?

    GED:

Yes, I see what you're saying. I'll go back to this when I have time and touch things up. I'm still getting used to digital painting and I know my work at the moment lacks lighting values. It looks very flat to me but I'll work on it.

Thanks for the constructive feed back, I think I need to work on making sharper edges as well... Very blurry.

no problem :) theres a quick way to get more natural edges on stuff and loose that digital airbrushed look - just find some nice more natural harder edged photoshop brushes. the brushes with this workshop are nice and painterly http://www.imaginefx.com/02287754332606896693/the-custom-brush-guide-skin-and-hair.html
