Just an idea, the small black thumnail isnt the same character it was just the starting point to get to this idea - the bigger dude in gray. Not sure if its a cyborg or a norm I think its has to be cyborg.
Im trying to figure out which faction to use, not sure if I want norm or cyborg but Im starting to think I want a character thats somewhere inbetween the freakish coolness of venom and the solid techno rock of sector six.
I think your guy with the mane is the one that's standing out the most at this stage, although the guy next to him has some interesting stuff going on with the forearm armour. Perhaps you could encorporate elements of the two.
The third one is not very interesting but it has seperb flow, you might wanna exploit that by adding some more interesting elements and keeping the basic structure.

3 and 6 are my favorites. Like Jerry said 3 has great flow. I like 6 b/c he almost seems like a robotic guerrilla. I could picture him charging like a guerrilla normally would, can't wait to see what you go with!

your latest designs look cool to but they remind me a lot of your entry from last domwar, not that it's a bad thing but something completely different would be cool too
Hey Ged, the latest is looking good. I prefer sihouette #1 for the shoulders. 2 is very generic to me and 3 is without any right? Not sure what those 2 poles are but they're more interesting.
I think what Raven is saying is maybe mix it up by changing the proportions a bit? Maybe this guy could be a LOT bulkier to differentiate?
That last one looks nice, but I think the character could benefit from the proportions being a bit more varied? Also the weapons should be larger. They look kind of like they'd snap if he used them with all that muscle. Maybe its just that thin bit.

Ive got a new idea for the chest piece already and Im gonna shrink his head down and push the proportions of the body so that he has more girth(is that the word?). Im thinking hes a big slippery muscly alien cyber dude that hunts down his enemys down like a rugby player looking for a tackle.
Those antennas or whatever they are on the far left silhouette are very nice i also like the high and tight shoulder design you have going on that one this looks nice so far.

Im thinking of maybe giving him big robotic claws ala robo-witchblade + that 1st armour with the 2 aerials so it will match that freaky silhouette with the hair and long fingers on the thumbnails. Yeah coldkodiak I might give his legs more weight they are a tad too comical I wanted to push the proportions but I think Ive done that enough.

Im currently trying 3Dcoat voxel sculpting quadrangulation to make a basemesh with nice flowing shapes then I will move on to sculpting when the base is done.
Still having difficulties with vista64 and my 3d drivers I havent got internet yet but Im hoping that once I do the vista updates will help.
Stil experiencing vista technical difficulties here, I got internet now but I still dont seem to have solved the nvlkddmd.dll crashing problems in games and Ive been to nvlkddmd.com to try all the solutions but nothings working AAAARRRGH!
to add to that 3dcoat is making wierd artifacts that just get worse every time I hit undo - so I will probably have to wait for the next alpha release of that before I can work on it any further on that idea.

it happens after about 20mins of play in far cry 2 and just generally randomly pops up to annoy me while using any app at all.
I am sooo pissed off right now Ive spent £650 on the parts, a week of building my pc and waiting for parts, then installing software for a weekend and now 2 late nights trying to get this to work and Im still totally screwed!
this 8800GT ran fine in my other computer with winxp even played through crysis on medium but vista just keeps on managing to crash the card. WTF!!!!!!!!
crap its late and I have to go to bed...work in the morning
thanks for the encouragement, Im still excited about making this character but my new pc is in for diagnosis and repairs so I have no pc at the moment. I will be straight back on this when I get my pc working .

So now Im stuck all of the next 4 days, which would have been perfect time to work on DWIV, with a broken pc that cant even run silo for more than 10 mins without crashing.
This may or may not be of any help to you but I was having the exact same problem prior to the Dominance War. I was trying to get some upgrades for my PC up and running (including a switch to vista 64) and was constantly getting that blasted error in 3d applications. I tried a ton of different things and ultimately what resolved the problem ( well, sort of ) was removing the 8 gigs of ram I had bought and replacing it with my older 4 gigs of ram. The problem instantly went away and has yet to return.
It sucks because I have 8 gigs of ram sitting on my desk that I'm not using, and I haven't really had the time to troubleshoot it any further. But, depending on how much ram you have in your machine, maybe you could try reducing it, or if you have any other ram, try switching it out.
It seriously is one of the most frustrating errors I've ever encountered - I hope you resolve it soon

does anyone know why silo sometimes shoots one point/vertex in your model off towards x=0 when you edit an object???

I like where its going.
Perhaps try to find some different masses. The large shoulders, large forearms and shins is perhaps the most overdone mass types for characters.

last year was skinny and non armoured with a human/protoss style face and blades inside his arms
this year is big and beastly fully armoured with robot bits and a wierd sword thing(which might be replaced)
