It's too bad this is pg-13, cause with the addition of demons, we're enabled to head towards the tentacle-penis monsters of questionable sexual intentions; demon type.
Sweet. The concept sheet is mandatory, right? I'm guessing, but I want to be sure.
My only questions are, would a demon be favored next to a machine or norm in judging, as this chapter is supposed to be rise of the demons. And if we didn't have demons before, wtf were Imrod, Chudd etc.
Lol @ bobo. I am surprised you stayed up late enough to see the brief, your really committing to this ruse!
is awesome how many got the same messed up sleep schedule, must be a polycount side effects. this is the most early i got started. only wasted two hours so far
We felt defeat, we felt victory.
We will stick our blades firmly in the skulls of our enemies!
We will never give up!
We will cut trough flesh and skin, We will shatter their bones!
GREENTOOTH! grin at our enemies!
We shall claim our rightful victory NOW AND FOR ALL!
Seems you can team up to create a clan, it's a shame it has to be same race only, I doubt all my friends are gonna chose the same character type as me, but could be nice trying to set up some Polycount clans once people have started work and have similarly themed characters.
Hope I'll be able to finish my entry, gonna be away during 2 weeks in the middle...
Could clans be a good clearing house for anyone not finishing by the 11th May? Having a May 29th deadline gives you a few extra weeks if you miss the the main event, as long as you can find like-minded folks.
Not Ideal cos everyone will be an individual rather than having an entry that looks like a cohesive unit, but if you really want to enter...
I think I will put in for the war again this year, though not sure if I will go demon ( get that from work ) but will see what comes up. Glad to hear that they opened it to any engine, and looking forward to all the great art.
Not sure if it's been asked... should the forumname we put in our thread's title be based on our name at GA or Polycount? I have a different name at each and wasn't sure if this would be a problem...
Lighting/rendering: All lighting/rendering solutions from any software package on planet earth, is allowed.
This confuses me, i keep expecting them to figure this one out, but i had thought DW was a game art contest. It should be mandatory to display your model realtime in viewport, or in a game engine imo. Well just goes to show that again DW will be more about presentation and offline rendering, than the quality of your actual model.

I assume whichever forum you'll be "fighting for" will be the forum that houses your wip thread. I'd just follow the conventions for each forum, as Jesse's posts states:
"To keep things organized please name all threads in this format.
DWIV - 3D - UserName
DWIV - 2D - UserName"
Just follow the format the moderators presented and you shouldn't ruffle any feathers. You should mention you're fighting for another forum within your thread, if that's the case, I'm sure it will become apparent early one anyway, the forum logos and colors must be incorporated.

I think that lighting rule would only apply to the "Beauty Shot"
The "Presentation Shot" seems to be there for what you're talking about
I personally like that they've opened all races and classes to all forums. In previous years, I felt bad for the other forums that couldn't make evil shit, because they had to make gay angels or robots or whatever. I'd be pissed if I was forced to make either of those. I think this really evens the playing field for everyone. "too much freedom is bad thing." maybe true, but I like keeping stuff simple.
huh? ... somehow I missed seeing the word "forum" there. ... do we choose a race and class as a forum?
I think they ment, all individuals of any forum, rather than, a forum must choose their race and class. I can see how you might interpret it that way. As far as I'm seeing, people are picking individually, I haven't seen a forum-wide vote go up anywhere.

Have fun all.

time to go wild with some crazy concepts
omfg CLAN!
Begs the question, can one person concept the composition and characters or does that fall under the no collaberation issue?
Not Ideal cos everyone will be an individual rather than having an entry that looks like a cohesive unit, but if you really want to enter...
good luck everyone
Good point. I'm torn as what to do! Oh man, this is so difficult!

"Races and Character Classes: (choose only one. No combinations of any sort are allowed. Any forum is allowed to choose any race and class)"
that's not forum war anymore.
dayum.
too much freedom is bad thing.
Also what conte said.
so how do we choose a race and class as a forum? do we have a polycount poll to choose?
Im confused
