For job they asked to me to work on Maya 8.5 =___=...
I'm basicaly on Maya 2008 then some script don't work anymore...

Anyway... when I try to open my script editor, the pannel is completly grey, nothing appear, no menu, nothing.

And I have this error in the bottom right log :

// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya8.5/scripts/startup/scriptEditorPanel.mel line 1036: Object not found:

Then.. I try to replace the scriptEditorPanel.mel file with the Maya 2008 one... But nothing change..

The "object" not found is the tabLayout UI for the shelf editor.

    Try giving more information.

like this is a new install.
or this is a new install but there were directories with user scripts and preferences used by this new install.
or This is an old install thats been tinkered with by 20 people before me.

replacing a Maya script is pretty drastic?
Did someone tinker with the Maya's script files before u?

if not, Put the original scriptEditorPanel.mel back ( if u can ).

did u try disabling all external user scripts ( hiding them in an archive directory? )
did u try backing up prefs folder to an archive directory and then deleting prefs folder?

Did u bite the bullet and re-install.

don't try everything at once though.
U want to narrow the culprit down.
