Yo, starting another project. this time we get FOUR WEEKKKKSSSS.
this time around me and a couple of friends are participating in that contest at game-artists.net where you have to take a movie shot and recreate it at game res.
we picked the movie Hook. the Peter Pan one with Robert (oh man my mind is going blank, maybe it was Robin) Williams.
This is the shot we want to pull off and some stuff I made for it. I'll poke and prod my team members to post their updates as well.
**we have a blockout done so we know what goes where and how everything fits together, now we're making the individual assets. we will try to match the lighting in this shot from the movie as close as possible, its a nice sunset kind of look**

I'm team mate member_02 for this project.
This is what I have to show so far.
good start on the artwork too. You should show the scene block-out
00Zero for the fail lol good catch
Anyway, I think you could make the ao on the barrel slightly more pronounced.
The canon looks awesome.

Wheres the blockout for this? or you guys rushing straight to making props and then deal with putting the shitz together last?
fucking sick movie. Can't wait to see le crocodile.
Robin Williams
Robert (a.k.a. Robbie) Williams
However, it doesn't matter because it looks like the scene is going to be pure win. Assets looking sharp, and a great choice of scene as well!
hm, ill try to add another side or two to the barrel. but the AO is gonna be hard since the top portion is sharing the side texture of the barrel. ill see if i can do another plane with alpha for AO.
Here is a sign from the right side of the scene.
First of all sorry for the small reference picture, I just cropped it from the master shot.I went ahead and changed it up a little bit from the reference. If anyone is wondering what the sign means its a tribute to an old Unearthly Challenge team some of us were in.
00Zero is working on finishing up the blockout so hopefully we can get that posted up here tonight.
what material is that sign made of? the back....it doesnt resemble any material.
i better see a blockout by tomorrow morning.
nice. your comment is an internet equivalent of a dick slap to the face. XD
I have a target spot light on the asset but as far as lights being on the actual sign there isn't any on it.
The reference picture zoomed up in photoshop looks like its some shiny metallic gold material.
This is it rendered in Unreal.
heres the blockout in unreal. check out my sweet unreal lighting skillzzzzzz0rzzzzzzzzzz
On a serious note though it shouldnt show. I think I just arranged them up nubby.
I noticed this too. I yell out Rooofeeooohh every time I see it lol
Good job so far. You should have that funny fat kid rolling down that slope in the scene.
Any way,the one u have is great as well!

AS for the rail... I don't think it's seems implausible to have a long continuous rail. After all, trees are tall right?
the props all look super cool so far, anxious to see it all in engine.
We'll have a rough comp of stuff placed in engine soon. We are about to start working on the ship structures that surround the whole place.
