I've been in this industry to know never to work for a company that you enjoy playing games from.
You'll begin to hate them.
Most people who post on gamespot's forums work in games then?
I'm more attracted to the idea of working with a kickass art department, regardless of the game, but I went with Bioware in the end. Large, deep worlds to populate ftw.
Screw the man. As long as we're talking dream jobs, give me hordes of highly qualified minions and a elevator that goes up and out. Yes you could swim in the chocolate river...
Somewhere very creative and relaxed, likely indy. I love what 2D Boy apparently did, where they just dropped in at whatever coffee shop they felt like with their laptops. That'd be great!
Other: Square Enix.
I'm a huuuge Square fan, and their art inspires me. It is because of various Final Fantasy games that I'm here ('here' being the game industry...when I'm actually in it)
Id or Epic. I'll get there eventually, you'll see, YOU"LL ALL SEE!! /runs off crying
so many want to work at valve, strange. I always thought their art was a bit shit tbh!
I'm a bit shocked there aren't enough votes for ID & Epic myself. They are just so cutting-edge. Although I don't necessarily think Valve art is "shit".
I voted Indy, but if I ever got a chance to work on a larger commercial project with 'pros', I'd want to work with Team ICO or Tim Schafer or any team that makes games that are interesting and fresh. Making more generic FPS games or dumb action games would bore me to tears, unless the art direction was not your standard 'next gen' "make everything brown and grey and shiny and realistic" visuals. I hate those games.
I dont think working on the games you love playing will make you hate them, i think it will motivate, and only bring you closer, being part of the awesomeness.
but then again, i have no industry exp so ill stfu.
Has to be Valve, and followed by Blizzard(cinematics ;D )
Yea other studios push the art so far, but im after somewhere to push myself animation wise ;D (of course, Im not even good enough for a junior job there but, what the heck..)
I think (and I'm not sure because I'm not the people who voted for Valve) wanting to work for Valve has more to do with the way they work as a company, the way they design their games and the way they interact with the players. I think they also learned a while ago that gamer tears don't actually put out flaming GPU's.
If Epic is 3dsmax, and id is Maya, then Valve would be C4D. Well put together but not well known by the masses (Live gamers) BUT with 90% less jaded fans because of it.
Granted if any of those companies contacted anyone who voted for another company I'm sure anyone would jump at the chance.
I'd love to work wherever i am (location) at one specific time a year. Let's say the 23. of February for an hour and the pay would cover my then also chosen living standard for another whole year.

Usually I read or hear, 'I love this game, so I want to work there!'
All I know is that I love Half-Life. I would hate to work at Valve because that would ruin the game for me. It's one of the few games I look forward to. I would probably never play it again if I worked there.

I dunno man, I've a number of the Valve folks on Steam and they play their games a lot, after hours. Robin Walker plays TF2 with us once in a while, etc.

I've never been one of those types.
In highschool, I got on the yearbook staff, and that yearbook is my least favorite because I know it in and out. Same with games.
I am happy where I am at, and was something I would vote for ( ID ). But I would also love Epic, as they are at the top of there game, and have seriously skilled artists.
iD sounds like the coolest. John Carpenters tech is always cutting edge, and has this habit of changing how everyone in the industry does things from then on.
Pixar sounds like a very artist friendly and nurturing place as well, although its not game related per se.
As if I'm anywhere close to being worthy of breathing the air surrounding these developers.
Guess my vote goes to "Home". Truthfully, I would love to work somewhere - anywhere as an artist, that allowed my fiance to be with me. I always work best when I have her around.

HAHA, that would be frickin rad if during some random interview John Carmack pulled off his face to reveal that he was, in fact, John Carpenter this whole time....

Yes, same issue - girl is working as a teacher, which makes it very hard to move to anywhere outside the EU, and even inside it's a bit tricky...:(

A number of those places would be fun to work at. But the top of my list would be Epic. The chance to work on a game that sells litterally, a bagillion copies it's first few days onsale would be awesome.

I'll end up working at one of those studios one day.
politics.
Also should be in a city centre so there is a social life.
That's if I was looking to work full time though, freelancing from home suits me fine.
I can work when I like and there are not many distractions apart from my cat trying to scratch
its way up my trouser leg
re the list I would like naughty dog as I loved the Jak and daxter series

But for now, I'll take any job. O.O

Otherwise... a cool company. Where you get paid in women and awesome.

What about Lionhead, I did a little work experience there, seems a nice place.
Eidos Montreal would be neat but only because I'm a massive Deus Ex fan.

pftch! Table tennis was fun as hell!
My picks (in alphabetical order): Bungie, Epic, id, Infinity Ward, Valve. Any of those would be a dream job.
1. Epic 2. Epic and 3. hmm Epic hehe
ok but my real favs would be Epic, Blizzard and i think Monolith
I've never been one of those types.

It could be my first and last only job in existance of this planet and i'd be happy no matter what I would do there.
Smart people, Intelligent design, great visuals, awesome games!
The ingredients can't get any better than that!
Spark

Most of the games i love are from these 2 companies so of course i want to work for them.
I 2nd that "like to work" plus I'd want to play with their new editor i was demo'ed
there's 10 votes for EA via Bioware
