Hey guys, this is my first post so forgive any noobishness.
Been using max for a few years but every now and then i'm working away and max likes to throw up new and strange things to baffle me.
So right now, i was working on a model in vertex and all the lines and vertices turned black. Moving a vert now makes the entire model dissapear, reseting, reloading, restarting didn't help. Making a new object is fine and it wont do it for that.
So can anyone help me out and tell me what random shortcut or button i must have pressed and help a guy out?
thanks anyone/everyone!
(model is a WIP and is highly likely to get better)

See if that doesn't resolve your issue. Also, try Resetting the Xform.
You can also try Utilities pannel > Reset Xform > Reset Selected > Collapse modifier stack.
You can also try exporting the mesh as .OBJ and then import it back into your scene. But I really think what scoob mentioned will get things fixed
Check these two urls out, and also read this thread http://boards.polycount.net/showthread.php?t=48305.
It's also better to not hijack other people's threads with unrelated issues :P
