for a papervision or flash 3d model and those flat textures you could save a hell lot triangles - I think a 3rd of your current could be saved without much visual change.
The reason people intersect their models so often for papervision most of the other flash 3d engines is that it only handles affine texture mapping which means that you see distortion within perspective + to deal better with intersection and clipping issues.
I would like to see the final result - looks very promising so far

These are placeholders for the papervision game to run off. Luckily, I'm not coding that.
