The visual artist for this band is outstanding absolutely. for their live show he had 6-8 slide projectors, overlaying many insane images, from roman ruins to modern day war zones to just fantasy hell scenarios. he had an 8mm projector which he then projected marching troops and storming tanks. absolutely mindfucking terror of a live show. see them if have the chance. oh and in front of all that gear was a giant color wheel of gels which he kept manually spinning just to add like a hallucinogenic overtone.

sonic: Dunno if I'd call Lamb of God or Killswitch Engage "fresh" metal... they've both been around a fair while. Also while Blacken the Cursed Sun is an awesome song, I've found that listening to more than one Lamb of God album just gets boring, a lot of their stuff sounds very similar.

Check out this docu on the band, basically just focusing on Gaahl. 3 news reporters go up to his completely isolated home in Norway where he and generations of his family live in complete isolation in the mountains.
exciting talks about his devout satanism and the reporters put their foot in their mouths so badly at the end it looks like Gaahl wants to "cut them up into tiny pieces" for being flock followers and not an independant free spirit like good little satanists.

Well... they are fresh compared to a lot of the Slayer/Iron Maiden/generic old band bands
I agree that Lamb of God gets repetitive. Hopefully they can come out of that because their older album "As the Palaces Burn" has a very nice and unique sound compared to their later two albums.
Also, I have been listening to more Between the Buried and Me lately. I saw them in concert once and they were dressed in short shorts and workout clothes with headbands on. It was awesome
Killswitch Engage isn't nu metal... things like Korn, Linkin Park, etc are nu metal. I'll never understand people who dislike metal just because it has real singing mixed in with other stuff. I think it's awesome.
Barathrum is an interesting band, too. They have like 4 or 5 bassists. It's crazy.
