I haven't found anything truly unbiased yet. There's CNN, which always leans more dem, and foxnews, which shows more rep. I'll be watching a bunch of channels tonight, but a nice online poll result would be good
I still dislike the system we currently have. Only 14 of our states require the electoral college to cast the same vote as the state majority. The college could technically vote the opposite of what the state majority was for. Pretty damn broken if you ask me. It won't be right until all states are required to vote as their constituents have.
Hehe, I stood in line for an hour and a half, it felt like I was attending a sold out concert or something! Aside from that I can't wait for the results, I'll be glued to my TV tonight.
gonna go in a little, after work. will be running home to get my ds and my mail (rhythm tengoku gold should be arriving today ), just in case there's a line. I hope there isn't much of one. ah well.
Voted earlier this morning, only a handful of people their so didn't have to wait long, though did end up needing someone to vouch for my address sense just moved like a month ago.
Personally I don't like either candidate, but tried to choose the lesser evil.
So glad we have mail in ballots, I already voted last week.
This. I started voting by mail in college, and I don't know if I'll ever go back. There is a certain convenience factor to printing a piece of paper, filling it out, and dropping it in the mailbox at work. No crazy lines, no worries about voting equipment.
Though i must say I am a tad jealous of everyone walking around with their fancy "I voted" stickers, haha. I could have gotten free starbucks! or ben & jerrys! :P
Per both those articles cman2k, you can get a free coffee or free ice cream whether you voted or not, since it's against federal law.
The law states persons must not pay, offer to pay or accept payment for voting, registering to vote, withholding their vote, or voting for or against any candidate in any election that includes a federal candidate.
Took me about 20 minute to find my voting place today. They moved it since last election, from the little church by the road to the big church up on the hill. They did have VOTE HERE signs but they were about 6 inches tall... and up on the hill. No lines once I got up there though. Two older people walking out as I was going in. 5 staff members inside, only 2 of them actually doing anything.
Side question: I was going to ask who you guys are voting for but, AFAIK, that's a no-no. Ya?
Whats the big deal about telling people who you voted for? I never understood that. Bah!
You can ask, but no one has to tell you =P
It comes from people trying to bully, intimidate and influence other people based on how or who you're going to vote for. It's just nice to keep that private if you want to.
It's kind of like asking a woman when's she's due without knowing for sure if shes pregnant... asking could get you kicked in the nuts.
It's kind of better to ask if its ok to ask. Hey do you mind if I ask you who you voted for? Gives them an easier out.
As I predicted... my voting location was damn near empty when I strolled in after work. Glad I skipped this morning (when it was packed). Too bad I'm going to miss out on that dick sleeve, since that store isn't in my area
at this point I think everyone has already voted, so what's the point of hiding your choice.
I voted OBAMA.
Currently, Obama is ahead by 70 electoral votes. But the night is very very early and we have 6hrs ahead of us until all polls are closed. It's anyone's race at this point.
Now he is ahead in both. This is irrelevant however, as some states are still open, and most closed ones have less than 50% reporting. It wont be official for another 4-6 hours...i hope.
It's about keeping conversations polite. Talking about religion or politics (two things that everyone has opinions on) easily lead to arguments and war.
Carlo, the electoral college is a group of citizens elected by the people, whom cast the votes for president. It's THEIR vote, not ours, that decides who is president. Only 14 states make it mandatory law for that state college to vote the same vote as the state majority. So say if Washington voters vote 90% Obama, 10% McCain, the electoral college could still put their vote for McCain, and that would mean McCain won Washington. Which sort of breaks our system if you ask me. It won't be right until that's law in all states.
So, an electoral vote is a vote from the electoral college.

Wow, what a silly system. That sort of takes the point away from voting doesn't it? Why can't it just bet that whoever gets the most votes of the people wins. I don't understand...

agreed, EXCEPT keeping your vote secret AFTER you voted, denotes that you're ashamed of your choice. otherwise you wouldn't need to keep it a secret.
after you've voted, there's nothing else you can do, and your vote won't sway anyones decision, as they'll most likely already voted too. the worst that can happen is you realise a long time friend who you trusted, voted for the other guy, and that your life views are as different as black and white (lol see what i did there?).

I'm stupid and waiting until 4 so my gf won't have to wait online by herself, I predict a 2 hour wait, we'll see if I'm correct.
Nu-uh!
dont trust exit polls. wait for official numbers.

But really i don't think i need to say who i voted for its pretty obvious.
McCain is slightly ahead in regular votes but way behind in electoral college votes. That means Obama is currently in the lead, right?
"real time" updates what ever that really means.
OBAMA!

the funniest name in politics. i love it.
