I can do this blind folded in max all day long, but im in with a new comp that is maya house. So I gota learn how its done =/

Let me know if there is anybetter tutorials out there, or if someone can just write one up quickly. Ive tried searching this site, but there is soooooooo much stuff on normal maps that its trying to find that needle in a haystack.

big thanks!

yeah man, those tuts look like they cover what you need. Surface Sampler is now called Transfer Maps in the Rendering menuset under Lighting/Shading in Maya 8+

It's basically the same as max's RTT, just give it a whirl and I think you'll probably figure it out faster than someone writing it all up.

If you can, use the trial of turtle, its amazingly fast and easier to make lightmaps and nmaps inside maya, I´ve use it, and its simply one of the best plugins ever created for gamedev in maya
