Some Renders of a sculpt I did Sunday. Not really a finished model, but I liked the way it looks, so I posted these. Would love for some feedback on what I've done wrong with the facial muscle and fat structure (aware some of the detail work is wrong.) Done without a reference. Based on the LP model in Mudbox 2. Rendered in Maya, with some minor postwork done in pshop.
hey man not a bad start, at a glance a few things come to mind that could be worked on tho. First off the enire thing is a bit lumpy it maybe what you were going for, but cant tell that right now, also there is something wrong with the ears they are too flat to the head i think. Also structure wise the creases on the cheek that come down from the side of the nose should come close to the corners of the mouth right now they seem like they point more towards the back of the head. keep workin on it tho gl with your revisions!
1) Gotta work on blending the lips in. They are very duck bill-ish and obviously extruded as a way to make the detail, which is fine if they blend properly into the surrounding flesh. It will probably help to read up on the muscles of the face and really dig into the underlying anatomy. I found this link pretty interesting when I was studying the face. http://www.artnatomia.net/uk/artnatomy.html
Hey thanks for the links. It's always good to look at something the next day and you notice the glaring errors from the previous day.
I'm finding out Mudbox is more fun than a sack of cracked out monkeys with one only banana between them but no lack of chainsaws. Guess I'll work on fixing this guy before I start n a new one. Wish I had more time for this. Blreahgg. Working two jobs right now, sleep is the key.

2) The lighting is really pretty harsh and making it hard to gauge the model accurately. Work on getting a more subtle 3 point lighting setup.
