|: | me uly, me make crap sketchbook and try post more
trying to get some ideas for a project. got this one, a busted up drive in theatre, from listening to Godspeed You! Black Emperor. I have a large backlog of sketches, it's just a question of what I bring out of the garbage to post, lucky you!
edit: it's 80 polygons. I know there's some places I could reduce.

RECON KROKODILE?
had to do something after looking through Peris and Konstruct's pages.
these value doodles have been really fun, but really challenging. the lingering thought that I'm going about my business in a very inefficient manner is ever present. took about an hour and a half
cant shake the feeling I should be spending my time doing 3d shit. blag

a quick, incoherant painting that's going towards a scene! just trying to establish lighting / colour
k. here's the dorky follow up!
i played around with a few ideas for post effects for when all is said and done
edit: these are ridiculously overdone, keep in mind. : ) i'd tone it down to a comfy level in final
and the original, without post
really going to try and duplicate some of bionic commando's asset placement that made for excellent modular pieces. really excited to get working on this one! : ) Oh yeah, Unreal 3, cause i don't really know any other engines at the moment.
crocodile dentist! this isn't very productive of my time
fun little painting i did while wasting precious time
hmm how did i miss this? Really awesome stuff! Something with the orange blooming sunlight like the top picture could be very cool
haven't done anything on paper in a while, but lets hope it gets better : )
going to do a portfolio dump on here soon. lots of old stuff with a cleaner presentation.
more bigs2 stuff in another post
Will post some Dead Rising 2 stuff after release if persmission is given.
Your work is amazing!
I absolutely love your assets and single objects the most.
Do you have any tutorials, and or, tip/tricks on how you do some of them?
I would love to know more of your workflow.
Take care.
wowsers what a dump! i've always loved your machete but the rest of this stuff is looking great. super cool dude. thanks for posting!
lots of damn tiht pieces right there! i esp love your treat for textures,
tho i'd fade down some speculars on some of them.
anyway niice, thanks for sharing!
@jouste: yeah i kinda horded this bit of stuff. :] got jealous of seeing all your sick pimps and sketches.
@conte: haha thanks man, i appreciate it. good point on the speculars though, I think I know which ones you're talking about.
Well the idea is to post *at least* one thing every day or two, no matter how much time I spent on it.
So here's a 30 minute junker from last night. Notebook and markers.
picking up an old scene. (concept is somewhere in this sketchbook.) here's the basic material in UDK, just diff/spec/normal. Time to watch those Ryan Clark UDK youtube vids and find out what all this material blending stuff is about! Normal map made with Crazybump & Zbrush. Eager to figure out how to do a near-complete diffuse pass in Zbrush, little intimidating though.
What I'm looking forward to achieving is getting those swatches of paint laid overtop of the bricks, with the more exposed areas having more damaged chip bits. If anyone's got any cool pointers for any UDK or similar material examples, I'd be veeery appreciative. : )
(also keep in mind this texture is normalized with just a big light in the scene. the value will match up closer once I get it placed in scene with an appropriate lighting rig.)
here's a cat! the cross hatching isn't so hot, but i'm working on that. ; )
it's been a while? was out of the country for a while, good to be home.
was playing around with some ideas, not a big fan of the results any more. next one will be cooler.
