seems like western digital and i cant get along,
ive lost up to 4 of there drives in 2 yrs time,
ive had my maxtor for years and no issues as a main drive,
i just had my 500gig ata start not showing up,
but its still spinning and no clicking at all,
When I got a new machine at work, its WD HD went out about 2 weeks later, lost some work... I had one go out in my home machine about 2 years ago, switched to seagate and maxtor and I haven't had any problems.
One of our animators lost some work to a WD external going tits up.
I heard or read somewhere that HD's are most likely to fail in the first 3mo or after 3 years.
Thanks just downloaded that,
ran a test on my main maxtor drive,
the smart status on it failed,
said the spin retry count,
this is not a good day for me and hard drives i guess,
I had other problems with my maxtor external. when I reboot I gotta unplug it and plug it back in or I'll get some weird error when trying to access the hdd... OR I have to restart the hdd. very annoying cause I have to go under the table... good exercise I guess, lol.
