Upon your recommendation I bought UT3 and have been learning UE3. Then I realized I don't care for UT3's game style. I want to build environment that are still functional but tell more narrative and can contain scripted bots and cover. Turning to Ebay I ordered GOW for the PC.
While it is on its way, I am looking online for tutorials and finding much more on UT3 than GOW for the UE3 editor. While I admit there are bound to be a wide range of similarities, I am interested in reading about some of the custom entities I will need to learn to script to in Kismet to get a genuine GOW feel.
I have had a hard time finding any tutorials on how the editor handles cover. Is is such a no brainier once you see it that there is no need for tutorials?
Thank you for your help,
-Andrew

However, if you really want to use the GOW editor, then just be sure to save often, and remember UnrealEd has an auto-save feature, so you'll probably have tons of backups in the autobackup/autosave folder in your "My Documents/My Games" folder, etc. Also, you'll need to place the actor for places where the player can go into cover mode. There's a few short GOW/UnrealEd videos floating around the net, perhaps try Gametrailers or another game video site and you might find them.
Editing Cover: add a CoverLink to the level you're editing. cover is attached to the coverlink node, to which you can add more cover. By aligning and setting flags for each Cover Node you can define the abilities available to the player (Crouch,Stand,Pop out n' fire, Climb over, CoverSwitch, Etc Etc).
As a side note it it is entirely possible to create cover with many different Kind of cover within (not that it's necessarily fun) I.E. low cover with patches of high cover (think a wall with massive holes), Cover that "Curves" around objects(Interior angles are a quite hard though)
Hope that helps but if not just experiment and you'll get the hang of it.

I did indeed, for UT3. There was no Special Edition of GOW I could find. So, while I will know my way around the editor and all those other useful things, I was curious about how the two were different; as well as working with entities that are specific to GOW (Like how they implement where the game has sticky cover).
Yeah, as I was mentioning, I have found other tutorials all over the next for UT3, and UE3, in general, but no real GOW specific tutorials. Then again, there may not be any need if I just look at a few sample levels.
