Husker Du were busy inventing modern music while all the cunts were clapping their hands in time to Radio Ga Ga
I was glad to see a band mentioned from the SST lable: Black Flag, Descendents, Husker Du etc. Maybe not the greatest but they laid some serious influence down for youngsters like me in the 80's when radio was slouching hardcore.
what, you dont like music? were just sharing music. You post your music now!
Good god, there's no way I could ever even think of a favorite band with all the stuff I listen to. I MIGHT be able to pick a favorite artist from every genre I listen to, but that includes rock, metal, industrial, techno, hip hop, country, classical, etc, etc..
Ok, here's some stuff that I'm digging at the moment, that's as good as I'm gonna do
Buckethead is cool.... even though Axl didn't keep him, I'm glad he atleast exposed me to who buckethead is. I hadn't heard of him prior. Best in the World? not IMO... but still damn impressive.
311 Hands down for me.
Most positive and awsome hybrid of alternative rock anyone can ask for from such a side of music that can make the moment seem sick tight!

I watched the title and immediately thought: queen. but as a very close second place comes the police, just because they are so crazy while their music rocks.
throwing this one into the mix. British bands come and go faster than you can blink, and the ones that stuck around have never not once gone unblemished by some absolute steaming pile. Except these. Didn't put a foot wrong in ten years plus. AND they started Chemikal Underground, the world's ninth best record label
and what music list is complete without mention of GWAR. Thats it though I`m just gonna mention it. No one actually listens to gwar. Go to a concert quick (Its possible they might all die soon, they gotta all be 90 years old or so)
No other band has ever come as close in mixing so many different sounds and timbres. This band has had so much influence and more #1 hits than any of the lesser bands mentioned in this topic.
TOTO, INDEED MAN! This band is the best! Melodic and some of the best musicians participated of this band, bad thing they stopped this year.
I would add Yellowjackets here, but I´m sure there´s no much jazzists here

ooh the police rock! they're definitely up there for me since I'm a real big 80's fan.
for me I'm a little torn between:
U2 and Depeche Mode. Both great bands with so many great songs and albums over the years.

Way to revive old threads :P
Then The Smiths, The Decemberists, and Feist.
