Maybe a crazy suggestion but how about adding some dripping thing from the center weird thing. Like in the Aliens movie you have all that saliva and things hanging and dripping. I think that would be pretty cool.
Thanks guys. actually in response to David-J request for more saliva dripping from the hive. We were thinking about it too. But have not really figured out how to do it without using the fluid plugin.
Hi all, This is an update of where we are at. We decided to change the color of the key light from green to more of a yellowish hue. We started to add some sort of jelly like substance hanging from the tubes as well.
Hi Everybody, well as it stands 1 day left on the clock. We are just about to wrap things up. Wanted to thank everybody for their comments. It was a real honor for us being part of this challenge ( which is a first for us ). Really cool stuff being done by all teams. It has been a wonderful experience. Challenging in many ways.....trying to finish this as well as balancing our time between work, family time and playing DEAD SPACE and FALLOUT 3. Best of luck to everyone.

We decided to try a dutch angle camera for this shot. Still working on the lighting.
Here i added some ambient dispersion to the keylight. Trying to enhance the overall mood.
