man i was sure you get one of the high places. congratz happy christmas i would say hehe. i would be so happy and proud ^^ next UE you have to create another great piece of enviro  hope so
Heyhey everyone, I put the map online, you'll need unreal editor 3 to check it out though!
Download the file here: http://www.brameulaers.com/filez/GEIDI_abandoned_colony.rar
warning: big download (90mb)! Just unrar the file to "My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Unpublished" in you windows documents folder. You should be able to open it, possible you first have to open the content package (GEIDI.upk) in the generic browser.
Have fun discovering how unfinished it really is and looking at my geometry gaps and lighting errors that are all over the place !
Yo man, congrats on the win, well deserved. And thank you muchly for posting the map file, it's great being able to see how you did a lot of the stuff. Very inspirational!

Man, this is so true! Hah. Somehow I just got a little more relaxed about creating things. Especially portfolio pieces. Sometimes just making it look good is as good as making it right!
Can't thank you enough for posting this little gem. I loved checking out every little detail of it. I'm trying to learn as much as I can from your piece of work just cause it's so amazing!
You pulled off the post apocalyptic 'something isn't right' feel perfectly! This being said, have you thought about maybe trying an Oceania scene from 1984? Had I been more skilled and experienced I'd try it myself, but I'd really love to see what you could do with it.
hello, thank you very much for posting the file! I was tired to look with a hourglass on the monitor, to see the details
I want to see how the textures are applied...
I tried to export the level from Unreal editor in OBJ format, and import it in 3dsmax, but no success... anybody knows if this is possible?
Peris - Just want to say thanks for letting us all have a little look around your scene. Much appreciated. Awesome work, and look forward to seeing more of your stuff in the future!

has anybody else had trouble loading this? according to the UE forums it should be unzipped to the published folder, butit doesn't show up for me either way. and what is this "generic browser."
the screen shots are really nice though:(
It worked fine for me when I unzipped it to the unpublished folder. I think you are mistaking it for a playable level, but you have to open it in the editor. The generic browser is where you can load the GEIDI.upk package in the game editor.
I only glanced at it for a second, but there was some cool stuff. There were a couple grunge planes, and I was wondering if using planes instead of decals saves memory because of instancing? Hope this year's challenge brings more like this.
hmmm, shows what i know:poly141: thanks Slainean.
though it crashes when i try to "play" it, i can still move around in the editor viewports and it looks pretty damn good there,

I just used planes because thats easier to place than decals (and I probably couldn't figure out how to make the decal not project on the mesh in front of it).

I bow before you in the shadow of your awesomeness. haha
Mighty epic stuff here mate!!
Interesting to see just how focused the entire scene was for 1 still shot, completely changes how i'm approaching Unearthly...
